The Position

Hillsboro Aviation’s contract & charter division provides services to the United States Forest Service (USFS), the Department of Interior (DOI), FEMA, large national utility (powerline & infrastructure), and high-tech companies as well as smaller companies and individuals. Our missions include search and rescue, short-haul (human external cargo, natural disaster relief, construction support, aerial firefighting, natural resource surveys, film/photo/news, and heli-skiing. Our fleet is comprised of Airbus H145D3, Bell 205 A-1++, Bell 407, Bell 407HP, and Airbus AS350B3e.

As a B407/AS350 Utility Pilot, you will work closely with the Contract & Charter: R/W team to organize and manage daily requirements of their assigned contract. You will report to the Chief Pilot and will be responsible for the following, including but not limited to:

  • Organize and manage daily requirements of the contract
  • Mission preparation and execution, including accurate and timely reporting of operationally related information
  • Represent Hillsboro Aviation in a professional manner
  • Interact with clients in a courteous manner

Ideal candidates are engaging, energetic, and driven; can work independently within his/her areas of responsibilities under limited supervision; value a strong work ethic and optimistic attitude; maintain a critical eye for detail and organization; are excited to represent Hillsboro Aviation in front of key customers, including foreign governments, community leaders, and business partners.

Job Responsibilities

  • Organize and manage daily requirements of the contract
  • Represent Hillsboro Aviation in a professional manner
  • Interact with clients in a courteous manner
  • Mission preparation and execution, including accurate and timely reporting of operationally related information
  • Provide services to the USFS, DOI, DOD, FEMA, large national utility and high-tech companies, as well as smaller companies and individuals
  • Missions range from Search and Rescue, Short Haul (Human External Cargo), Natural Disaster Relief, Construction Support, Firefighting, Natural Resource Surveys, Film/Photo/News flights to Heli-skiing.

Qualifications/Licenses

  • COM or ATP certificate with Rotorcraft Helicopter Rating
  • Current Medical Class 1 or 2
  • Driver’s License
  • Passport (for OPS crossing into Canada or relocations to Alaska)
  • Ability to work legally in the US

Required Skills/Experience

  • Meet the requirement for FAR Part 135
  • 1500 hours helicopter PIC
  • 50 hours PIC must be in make/model
  • 100 hours helicopter PIC time in the past 12 months
  • 200 hours mountain flying experience

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Previous vertical reference experience (longline)
  • Firefighting and/or utility experience
  • Current interagency card
  • PSD and/or Torch qualification
  • Experience in other make/models of helicopters that we operate
  • Instrument rating
  • Restricted radio station license
  • Deep-snow landing and cold weather experience
