Purpose of the position
To carry out surface finishing, painting and restoration on military aircraft and associated components.
Accountability
- Accountable for the safe, compliant and timely completion of task.
- Carry out surface preparation and finishing on aircraft and components as instructed.
- Maintain all equipment and paint preparation areas to the required standard.
- Comply with all health, safety, environmental and airworthiness regulations.
- Work in accordance with company procedures to ensure compliance with requirements associated with the role, e.g. tool control, risk assessments, daily checks, document control.
- Complete coating removal tasks to support inspection of aircraft and aircraft components
- Complete surface refinishing tasks to support recovery of aircraft and aircraft components
- Accurately record data as instructed by tasks or associated manual
- Complete checks as required by the business process e.g. PPE, area, tool checks etc.
- Complete relevant training or meetings as specified by the management team.
- Proactive attitude to operating safely.
- Offer ideas and opportunities to improve the business.
- Effective communicator and team player.
- To carry out surface finishing, painting and restoration on military aircraft and associated components
Technical Competencies:
- A high level of knowledge regarding surface preparation and finishing techniques, ideally aviation paint coating systems.
- Experience of working on aircraft, including technical data sets, aviation software and aircraft manuals.
- A good level of knowledge regarding quality assurance.
- IT literate.
- Certificate of training from a recognised paint manufacturer, major distributor, airline or a City & Guild. Essential.
- Aeronautical Engineering apprenticeship. Highly desirable.
- Proof of any previously held inspection training. Highly desirable.
- Certificates for previous MEWP’s, EWIS, FOD, EASA etc. training. Highly desirable.
Experience:
- Experience of carrying out paint associated tasks within an aerospace organisation. Essential
- Experience of carrying out maintenance activities on C130. Highly desirable
Additional:
Must be medically capable of working in confined spaces and use of the appropriate PPE.
Must be able to provide a complete employment and residence history for past 5 years.
Must be able to pass security checks and obtain an Airside Security Pass.
