Position Summary:
AAA United States, Inc. has partnered with a company in Pascagoula, MS that is the leading provider of quality construction, manufacturing, engineering, repair, and conversion products and services to the marine industry.
The QA/QC Structural Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all structural fabrication, assembly, and welding activities within the shipyard comply with project specifications, shipbuilding standards, and applicable codes.
Essential Functions:
- Examines materials or products for surface defects, such as cracks, pits, and incomplete welds.
- Compares product with parts list or sample model to ensure completion of assembly.
- Verifies specified dimensions of product or material using inspection equipment.
- Rejects defective parts, and marks type of defect on part, container of parts, or inspection tag.
- Tests products for structural defects, such as leaks and internal cracks, using water pressure tests.
- Tests mechanisms for clearance and freedom of movement.
- Assists the Testing and Trials department personnel with systems testing and sea trials.
- Performs other duties as specified by the Quality Assurance Manager.
- Construction photos.
- Must be able to work in confined/enclosed spaces.
- Must be able to work/climb in elevations greater than 5’.
- Must be able to wear/work with a respirator when applicable.
- Must follow all Company policies and procedures, including those relative to employee safety, environmental policy, and the principles of our quality system.
- Other duties assigned or requested by Management.
- Works overtime as required.
- Reports to work daily and on time
Requirements
- Five (5) years of manufacturing, shipyard, or quality (testing and inspecting) experience preferred.
- Knowledge to inspect three (3) or more of the following areas: welding, machining, painting (coating), piping, mechanical, and testing.
- Utilize more than visual inspection and testing techniques, such as NDE inspections including Radiographic film interpretation, Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), or Ultrasonic Thickness Gauging (UT).
- Ability to read and interpret codes and specifications, and advanced blueprint reading.
