About This Role

We believe people should love what they do – in this role, you will be responsible for:

The Powder-Coat Technician is responsible for routine and preventative maintenance coating duties within the manufacturing plant, including a full range of specialized projects. These include but are not limited to; powder coating large structures, performing inspections, clean ups, proper storage, and disposal of powder-coat products and operating various tools and equipment. Skilled at layout, preparation and performing the powder coating assignments on parts from all departments, to meet Quality Control inspection and customer acceptance.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • To receive and prepare cut parts for the powder coat process.

  • Working from oral and written instruction, regularly perform powder coating on (both exterior and interior surfaces), using extreme care to avoid overspray.

  • Use and adjust, clean and service powder-coat guns, hoses, and other spray equipment.

  • Apply coatings to small and large surfaces to a variety of surfaces including, steel, aluminum, and other shop coated metal, uncoated metal, finish hardware, accessories and other surfaces as specified.

  • Apply protective powder coatings to items such as equipment and miscellaneous metalwork.

  • Keep inventory of supplies and order in advance to assure needed items are on hand.

  • Work with program manager and leads to ensure schedule is on time and within budget.

Job Requirements:

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:

• High School education or equivalent required.

• Use of simple arithmetic together with simple drawings and specifications and some measuring devices.

• Knowledge and experience of all preparation and powder-coat processes preferred, but not required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Must adhere to all safety guidelines and wear personal protective equipment.

Candidate must pass pre-employment Respirator Fit Test



Essential Physical Demand Requirements:

Physical demands described have been validated by on-site job analysis.  They are representative of the physical demands that must be met by an employee to successfully and safely perform the essential functions of this job.  The following information is a synopsis of key physical demand requirements determined from a detailed job analysis:

Postural:  Must have the ability to move extremities and spine throughout a sufficient range of motion that will permit the employee to work in a variety of postures involving a range from floor to overhead level.  Flexing and twisting of the trunk and other awkward postures are occasionally required.

Dexterity:  Must have a good dexterity and frequently use one and two hands throughout the work period for hand tools and handling materials.

Cardiorespiratory Demand:  Must have sufficient cardiorespiratory fitness to be able to perform medium work involving constant standing and walking, material handling and performing work in a hot, humid environment. 

General Physical Activities:  Include standing, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, body twisting, sense of touch, manual dexterity, speaking clearly, seeing distant/reading, reaching, hearing, depth perception, color vision, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing ladders, climbing stairs and balancing.

Physical Demand Level - Medium:  Must be able to perform medium physical labor as classified by the United States Department of Labor. May be required to lift up to 35 pounds for a single person lift, and up to 70 pounds team lift
