Job Description

Cascade is seeking a dedicated GSE Technician who performs inspections and repairs of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and carries out mechanical maintenance on company vehicles.

 

This is a temporary, six (6) month position OR upon return of the incumbent.

 

Only Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents will be considered at this time.

Major Responsibilities & Duties
  •  Perform inspections of GSE.  
    • Undertake visual mechanical inspection of all GSE according to the pre-determined schedule, including but not limited to scissor lifts, boom lifts, tugs, fuel trucks, dollies, scaffolding, forklifts and hydraulic jacks;
    • Identify maintenance needs according to the schedule or inspection;
    • Complete support documentation to record inspections completed;
    • Report findings to Facilities Crew Leader. 
  • Repair all GSE. 
    • Remove GSE units from service if deemed to be defective, unsafe or in need of repair;
    • Disassemble affected components of the GSE, repair or replace components, and reassemble;
    • Repair, weld, and replace parts on GSE as needed;
    • Request parts needed to carry out the repairs;
    • Pick up parts at relevant supplier if necessary;
    • Document repairs effectively. 
  • Perform mechanical maintenance of company vehicles. 
    • Perform regular maintenance checks every two weeks, which includes but is not limited to checking the oil, water, brakes, lights, beacons, windshield, and tire pressure;
    • Wash company vehicles at least once per month;
    • Complete all repairs needed unless the vehicle is under factory warranty;
    • Take vehicles to insurance company as necessary to make claims.  
  • Ensure all maintenance work tasks are performed in accordance with Cascade Aerospace health and safety policies and procedures. Be familiar with and ensure that all workplace conduct is in accordance with Cascade Aerospace’s Human Resources safety and security policies and procedures.                
    • Ensure proper safety equipment such as proper gloves, respirators and eye and ear protection are worn when handling hazardous materials;
    • Ensure all co-workers are made aware of hazardous materials being handled around them;
    • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are adhered to when operating equipment and machinery.
Core Skills
  • Excellent communication skills: fluent written and verbal English is mandatory
  • Good general handyman skills: able to use a variety of tools
  • Ability to manage multiple assigned tasks to ensure they are completed on time
  • Strong understanding of all mechanical processes and procedures.
  • Good work ethic with proven good attendance and punctuality
Education

 

Grade 12 Diploma

 

Certificate in:

  •  Automotive Mechanics and/or Welding; Forklift, Scissor Lift and Boom Lift         
Experience

 

  • 3 to 5 years experience carrying out automotive or commercial equipment maintenance, including inspection and repair of brakes
  • 5+ years experience with general mechanical work
  • Heavy Duty Mechanic and/or Diesel experience would be an asset
Compensation Data

$23.46 - $35.79 per hour.
