Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector has an opening for a Field Technician 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This role is located in San Diego, CA. This position is fully onsite with no remote work available.
What you’ll get to do:
Maintain and provide technical support for Mission Module (MM) equipment located at Mission Package Support Facility (MPSF), with some travel to other Navy bases and deployed sites worldwide.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Analyze and evaluates equipment relative to specified performance parameters
Perform hands-on scheduled maintenance on MM equipment
Perform hands-on corrective maintenance, to include fault isolation
Install and removes MM equipment on US Navy ships
Provide logistics support; collaborates with customers/suppliers for technical and supply support
Able to operate independently when supporting flyaway team maintenance and troubleshooting at various sites, both CONUS and OCONUS
Required to use tools and equipment necessary to conduct all repairs to include general hand tools, power tools, and torque wrenches
Basic Qualifications for a Field Technician 2:
High School diploma or equivalent required, with a minimum of 2 years of related technical, mechanical, or maintenance experience in a field such as automotive, marine, or heavy equipment maintenance.
Demonstrated hands-on mechanical aptitude in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing complex systems.
2 years experience interpreting technical manuals, schematics, blueprints, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
Skilled in performing scheduled and corrective maintenance, including fault isolation and component-level repair on mechanical and electrical systems.
Must be capable of performing physically demanding tasks, including: Working in confined or restricted-access spaces aboard small craft and ships. Climbing ladders up to 20 feet and standing for extended periods. And Lifting up to 50 lbs to waist level.
Must be able to pass a basic DOT physical exam, obtain, and maintain a forklift operator’s license, and complete all related proficiency tests.
Must be able to operate independently while supporting flyaway team maintenance and troubleshooting missions at remote sites. Must be willing and able to travel up to 25 CONUS and OCONUS, sometimes on short notice, in support of fleet operations and maintenance tasks.
Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance. A final Secret clearance is required prior to start and must be able to be maintained for continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems used in shipboard or vehicle-mounted weapon and support systems.
Skilled in using diagnostic tools, test equipment, and data acquisition systems to evaluate performance and isolate faults.
Prior experience supporting Navy Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), MPSF, or other maritime defense programs. Experience with shipboard installations, alignments, and certifications involving mission modules or weapons systems.
Demonstrated ability to execute preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with PMS, technical directives, and QA standards.
Basic electrical or mechanical certifications, or formal trade school training in marine or industrial systems preferred.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills with attention to detail and adherence to Navy maintenance standards.
Prior U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard experience in shipboard maintenance, armament, or engineering fields. Familiarity with military maintenance documentation, safety standards, and operational readiness reporting.
Active Secret Clearance.
Primary Level Salary Range: $54,400.00 - $90,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
