Role Introduction
Reports to: Assistant Manager Crew Scheduling
As a Crew Scheduling Executive, you will be the one to design pairings for our flight and cabin crew in accordance with various industrial agreements, policies, legal and company’s requirements, as well as to meet business objectives and cost criteria.
You will also be supervising and coordinating the training and line rostering of flight and cabin crew in a holistic approach, ensuring rosters and pairings being developed are maximizing efficiency and productivity.
You will also act as a key liaison point for our wide-reaching teams and other external stakeholders for the purpose of achieving the above, ultimately optimizing crew operations and be a key contributor to Cathay’s status as a world-renowned airline.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure optimized flight crew and cabin crew pairings are generated in accordance with legal, industrial, Company and training requirements and all flights included in the pairings are provided with appropriate crew coverage and within available crew resources, consolidate hotel requirement forecasts for contract negotiations
- Obtain finalized flight schedule from Planning and manpower plan from Crew Planning team to ensure all flight crew and cabin crew pairings are generated before roster production cycle starts
- Work closely with the Planning and Crew Planning teams, and act as the focal contact between our Planning and Global Business Services teams during roster production cycle for operating plan changes. Coordinate with Crew Operations for roster changes which affect flight cabin crew training
- Lead teams in the roster construction process for our pilots and cabin crew, to drive continuous improvement in roster productions by conducting performance measurements
- Project detailed training lines for schedule month and the month after roster and regular updates on training requirements, make adjustments based on the training plans, the actual training events and crew rosters
- Produce long term Cockpit Crew training requirements alongside with Assistant Manager Training Planning
- Collaborate with Simulator Training Manager for the construction of the monthly simulator instructor roster, also with Flying Training Managers and other offices for training supports
- Liaise with Civil Aviation Department (CAD) inspectors and construct their flying rosters. Ensure all checklists, reports and systems are checked properly such that monthly rosters are published in compliance with legal and Company requirements
- Perform ad hoc duties as delegated by the Crew Scheduling Manager, including but not limited to maintaining team synergy and provide coaching to Crew Scheduling Officers, attend regular meetings with relevant internal and external stakeholders
- Monitor the performance of team members and maintain technical knowledge required, review and engage in discussion with team members regarding feedback to drive continuous improvement
Requirements
- A bachelor degree in any related discipline
- Minimum 3 years of experience in crew management or other similar environments
- Good Knowledge of flight crew and cabin crew roster handling is an advantage
- Knowledge of the Avoidance of Fatigue in Aircrews legislation (AFTL), Conditions of Service, Rostering Guidelines and crew training requirement is a must
- Solid people management and communication skills
- Good command of both spoken and written English
- Proficient in the Microsoft suite (Excel and Word in particular) or equivalent
- Able to work independently and decisively under pressure and within a team setting
- Good planning and organisation skills
- Strong analytical aptitude, a background in optimization activities is also preferred
