Plan and fabricate parts and shop aids in accordance with engineering or customer specifications to be used in flight test aircraft.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities TASKS-Performed with minimal supervision
1.&x9;Adhere to General Work Requirements
2.&x9;Plan machining procedures and set-up machining equipment
3.&x9;Fabricate first article and static, ground, and fatigue test parts in accordance with engineering specifications and BFTC methods planning documents to be used on flight test aircraft
4.&x9;Plan machining procedures and design and fabricate machine shop aids as required
5.&x9;Verify parts and tooling comply with design and complete methods documentation as required
6.&x9;Assist with development of set-up programs for computerized machining equipment
7.&x9;Grind cutting tools to specified tolerances in support of machine shop operations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
1.&x9;Working knowledge of properties of mild steel, stainless steel, titanium and aluminum applicable to part fabrication
2.&x9;Thorough knowledge of proper methods in processing materials and machining parts and shop aids to prevent costly losses of material and machine delays in certification efforts
3.&x9;Ability to produce detail parts utilizing conventional 3 axis machining including mills and lathes, must have CNC experience to include 3 axis and 5 axis milling and some CNC lathe
4.&x9;Basic knowledge of CAD/CATIA with a clear understanding of NC codes.
5.&x9;Ability to operate tool grinding equipment
6.&x9;Ability to build shop aid tools to further enhance machining operation for applicable equipment
Requirements &x2022;&x9;Typically 7 years CNC machining experience working with conventional mills and lathes, must have CNC experience operating 3 and 5 axis mills and preferred experience in machining prototype parts and tooling
&x2022;&x9;Ability to read and interpret engineering documents
&x2022;&x9;Basic knowledge of properties of mild steel, stainless steel, Titanium and aluminum applicable to part fabrication
&x2022;&x9;Ability to use and interpret a variety of precision measurement instruments
&x2022;&x9;Working knowledge of shop and trigonometry mathematics
&x2022;&x9;Ability to perform machine set-ups
&x2022;&x9;Basic knowledge of CAD/CATIA with a clear understanding of NC codes.
Miscellaneous PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENT 1.&x9;Frequent periods requiring use of conventional hand and bench/fixed tools, standing, and grasping 2.&x9;Occasional periods requiring portable power tools, lifting/lowering, carrying, crouching, and listening 3.&x9;Occasional periods of lifting up to 49lbs and 50lbs or more with assistance 4.&x9;Frequent exposure to general shop conditions and machine noise 5.&x9;Job location may be in a non-air-conditioned hangar or work area
