Job Description:

This position performs machine setup, machining, welding setup, welding, sheet metal fabrication and extrusion, tube bending and fabrication tasks, composite lay-up, fabrication, and assembly tasks, and assembles precision mechanical and electro-mechanical components. The role also prepares test articles, fixtures, and data collection devices for various tests, performs basic organic chemical conversion and paint preparation, applies routine organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance requirements, and works on articles of limited complexity following established drawings and requirements. Contractors will be installing electrical components on the NASA SLS rocket and may support other areas of the NOLA site as needed.

* Tools: Required
* Pay Rate: Up to $39.26/hour Education & Job Requirements
* High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
* A minimum of 1 year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* A minimum of 1 year of welding experience.
* Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprint drawings.
* Comfortable with heights, including use of JLG lifts. Preferred Skills
* Experience with composite material fabrication.
* Electrical and mechanical assembly experience in aerospace. Job Duties & Functions
* Set up and operate machinery for fabrication, machining, and welding tasks.
* Perform sheet metal fabrication, extrusion, tube bending, and assembly.
* Assemble, repair, modify, and install power plants, drive trains, wire harnesses, and avionics products.
* Perform soldering on electronic and avionics products.
* Prepare test articles, fixtures, and data collection devices.
* Perform basic organic chemical conversion and paint preparation, applying coatings for corrosion protection and appearance.
* Perform composite lay-up and assembly tasks.
* Follow blueprints, engineering drawings, and established procedures.
* Install electrical composition on the NASA SLS rocket and support other areas of the NOLA site as needed.
* Maintain safety, housekeeping, and FOD standards. Physical Requirements & Environment
* Must be comfortable standing, bending, and working at heights.
* 100% onsite at New Orleans, LA 66-103.
