STS Aviation Services is hiring a Sheet Metal Supervisor to join our team in Manchester, UK. In this role, you’ll lead a team of sheet-metal specialists performing structural repairs and modifications on aircraft while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship, safety, and compliance.
Position Overview
The Sheet Metal Supervisor oversees all aspects of structural repair and modification work, ensuring tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to exacting tolerances. This position requires hands-on leadership, technical expertise, and strong communication skills to keep projects on schedule and within compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of sheet-metal workers, ensuring fine tolerances and high standards are maintained at all times
- Report to the B1 Engineer and agree on inspection phases throughout each task
- Oversee removal and installation of minor and major aircraft structural components per approved documentation and standard practices
- Assist the team in obtaining relevant tooling, spares, and equipment to complete assigned work
- Manage and monitor bookings on task cards, identifying potential overruns or required adjustments
- Maintain strict adherence to Health and Safety, COSHH, and company procedures for yourself and your team
Skills and Abilities
- Completed a recognised aircraft engineering apprenticeship (production or live aircraft)
- Minimum of five years’ aircraft structures and repair experience
- Proven background in aircraft modification, production, or maintenance within a Part 145 MRO environment
- Demonstrated ability to supervise sheet-metal teams effectively
- Skilled in reading and interpreting manufacturer drawings and SRMs
- Excellent hand skills and attention to detail
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Takes full ownership and responsibility for assigned tasks
- Must be eligible to work in the UK
- Willingness to work late shift
