National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) STEM Records Management Internship

Amentum, in support of the National Weather Services National Data Buoy Center (NDBC) located at Stennis Space Center (SSC), Mississippi, is currently seeking motivated students who are enrolled in or have completed an Associates or Bachelors Degree program in a Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics (STEM) field to participate in a paid Internship Program focused on the digitizing and cataloging of various NDBC scientific and engineering records to enable electronic access by both internal and external NDBC environmental data customers. Paid internships of up to 40 hours per week through 8/30/2024 are being offered at a gross hourly pay rate $17.85. We will work with you to tailor a workload profile that works for your schedule (available times are Monday-Friday between 7 AM and 4:30 PM except federal holidays) and unpaid time off can be accommodated. Participation will be on-site NDBC (Stennis Space Center, MS). Internships will not include any benefits (medical/dental. etc or paid holidays/time off) or additional funding/reimbursement for travel/living expenses during the apprenticeship. Amentum supports NDBC to provide quality observations in the marine environment to support the understanding of and predictions to changes in weather, climate, oceans, and coasts. NDBC designs, engineers, fabricates/integrates, tests, deploys, maintains/repairs 4 worldwide buoy systems including Weather Buoy Stations, Coastal Observation (C-MAN) stations, Tropical Atmosphere-Ocean Array (TAO) systems, and Deep-Ocean Assessment and Reporting of Tsunami (DART) stations. Program scope also includes data analysis/storage/dissemination (via website/other means) of related weather and environmental data from these systems and other sources of in-situ weather data, Logistics, Information Technology/Data Administration, and Programming.
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in or completed an Associates/Bachelors Degree program in a Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics (STEM) field.
- All work will be performed on site Stennis Space Center, MS (once approved/cleared, access will be provided)
- Must complete a NOAA background investigation and be cleared for the NASA Stennis Space Center site access
