Job Summary
Responsible for the Maintenance Compliance of Air Methods regulatory maintenance documents, ensures they are organized and protected to meet the needs of Air Methods and to ensure that business is carried out in accordance with FAA regulations. Maintains thorough knowledge of Air Methods policies and all applicable Federal Aviation Regulations and applies that knowledge to decisions and recommendations. This position supervises the Maintenance Compliance Specialist(s) to ensure those teammate(s) are performing in accordance with set policies, guidelines, and procedures.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following:
- Completes research of Manufacturer’s Instructions, FAA Regulations and Airworthiness Directives to develop and ensure accuracy of Air Methods Pilot’s Maintenance and Servicing Procedures (PMSP).
- Gathers required documents to provide to the FAA for placing aircraft on the 135 Operations Certificate. This includes reviewing for completion and accuracy: 135 Conformity Checklist, Weight and Balance/Equipment List, Engineering Document Compliance Report (ADs), Aircraft Status Report, etc.
- Prepare changes to Ops Specs for submission to the DOM.
- Performs research related to regulatory issues and FAA inquiries including Letters of Concern (LOC), Letters of Findings (LOF), etc.
- Performs research related to issues that may lead to reporting under the Voluntary Disclosure Reporting Program (VDRP).
- Completes research and prepares requests for Exemptions to FAA Regulations.
- Monitors existing Exemptions for expiration and ensures extension requests are submitted.
- Serves as a backup point of contact between manufacturers, suppliers, repair facilities and the FAA.
- Validate and process requests for manufacturer’s tolerances for component overhauls.
- Answer compliance related questions from field/base mechanics.
- Prepare revisions for the GMM
- Manages MEMS Program with Support from Quality Assurance
- Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises employees in the Maintenance Compliance department. Carries out Supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, selecting, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees, addressing complaints, and resolving problems. For Exempt Managers: Managers that carry out these responsibilities for two or more employees will have significant input in hiring and termination decisions.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) from four-year college or university and two to five years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Familiarity with requirements of a 135 maintenance operation preferred
- Experience researching manufacturers maintenance documents and/or Federal Aviation Regulation preferred
- Experience editing and developing documents and manuals preferred
