Are you ready to lead a complex operational team in a fast-paced, dynamic airline environment? Reporting to the Director, Operations Control, WestJet is seeking a seasoned professional with extensive experience in operational leadership to join our team as the Manager, Operations Coordination. This critical role provides operational and people leadership to the Operations Coordination team, ensuring safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement in WestJet’s operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor the Operations Coordination team, including leads, coordinators, and advisors.
- Foster a motivated, high-performing team environment by ensuring proper organization, staffing, and professional development.
- Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of manuals, policies, processes, and standard operating procedures to support safe and efficient operations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to address operational challenges, irregular operations, and performance improvements.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance Operations Coordination processes and communication flows to maximize effectiveness.
- Provide 24/7 on-call escalation support to address operational needs and ensure smooth coordination.
- Identify and implement strategies for improving the service and support provided by the Operations Coordination team.
- Ensure compliance, support investigations, and oversee corrective actions, including managing Incident/Hazard reports through the Safety Management System (SMS).
- Represent Operations Coordination in interdepartmental meetings, projects, and initiatives.
- Deliver ad-hoc analysis, reports, and updates to support commercial planning and decision-making.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3-5 years in an airline operational environment required; 3 years of experience leading teams in a high-pressure setting is preferred.
- Education: Secondary education preferred; a post-secondary degree or diploma in aviation, operations management, or a related field is an asset.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of Transport Canada regulations and their application.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to inspire respect and credibility through actions, with a strong track record of leading and motivating teams.
- Decision-Making: Success in meeting tight deadlines and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
- Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships across teams and stakeholders.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
- Safety Focus: Capability to perform SMS leader responsibilities as outlined in the Company Safety Manual (CSM).
- Technical Proficiency: Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and Airline Operations Systems preferred.
