JOB DESCRIPTION: AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE MANAGER / HAWAII
FLSA STATUS: EXEMPT
REPORT TO: REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF MAINTENANCE (HAWAII)
SUPERVISES: AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE TECHNICIANS
Surf Air Mobility/Southern Airways/Mokulele is seeking dependable, professional individuals to lead our Aircraft Maintenance department at our airport station in Hawaii. The Aircraft Maintenance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all daily activities related to aircraft maintenance.
The ideal candidate:
Must provide leadership and direction to station staff
Ensures the effective utilization of personnel and equipment
Serves as the liaison to the Regional Director of Maintenance (Hawaii)
Must be familiar with and able to enforce corporate and regulatory standards
Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be professional in appearance and manner, and set a good example for staff
Must be experienced in diffusing stressful situations
Must be detail-oriented
General duties include:
Direct and assist assigned technicians as necessary to accomplish all maintenance functions, in accordance with company maintenance manuals, policies and procedures, and applicable Federal Aviation Regulations.
Developing, implementing, and monitoring maintenance management plans to improve uptime and minimize costs.
Managing maintenance budgets and ensuring they are in line with legal and safety regulations
Hiring, training, and evaluating assigned staff, and ensuring they meet performance and safety requirements.
Communicating regularly with upper management regarding problems or issues impacting production
Developing company policies and standard operating procedures
Looking for new ways to improve productivity and cost management
Perform On-The-Job technical training on aircraft maintenance practices, company policies, safety procedures and general information where required.
Ensure proper and legible completion of all company forms for all work assigned and performed, and correct disposition processing upon completion.
Maintain the work areas, buildings, and materials, which are utilized for aircraft maintenance, in a safe, clean, and operable condition.
When required, sign for his/her own work and co-sign for the work of other technicians in the section; however, signing shall not relieve any other technicians in the group from the responsibility for the work they performed.
Conserve and protect company funds, property, equipment and materials.
Ensure assigned staff adhere to company published Policies and Procedures.
Scheduling maintenance tasks, managing maintenance supervisors and technicians, and responding to maintenance emergencies.
Has RII and Airworthiness Release Authority.
Any other duties as requested by direct reports
Basic Requirements:
FAA Airframe and Powerplant license
Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in a Part 121/135/145 operation
Prior supervisory/management experience in an aviation maintenance environment
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Be proficient in computer skills such as Microsoft Office and Google suite
Is at least 18 years of age
Authorization to work in the United States
Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively
Ability to work within a 24/7 operation, including holidays
Ability to pass 10-year background check and pre-employment drug screen as required by company and/or airline regulations
Available for occasional overnight travel
Physical requirements:
Must be comfortable lifting/moving 50 lbs.
Must have physical dexterity sufficient to perform repetitive tasks and motions, including bending at the waist and knees, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting, and sustaining those positions for extended amounts of time.
Must have sufficient vision and ability to perform duties safely.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
FAA Inspection Authorization (IA)
Current passport
Familiarity with aviation maintenance management software such as Flightdoc, TRAX, or other platforms
