Position Overview:
IMP Aerospace & Defence has provided all aspects of support to Canada’s fleet of Cormorant Search and Rescue (SAR) CH-149 helicopters for over twenty years. Operating from across Canada at three Main Operating Bases, and headquartered in the Cormorant Support Centre in Halifax, NS, the program provides comprehensive, turnkey ISS to Canada’s Cormorant helicopters. This unique program provides the RCAF with a full suite of all levels of support this critical 24/7/365 mission. This positon will report to our Gander, NFLD Base.
What You Will Do:
- Provide supervision to employees.
- Assign crew shift schedule and aircraft maintenance schedule..
- Scheduled mission capable aircraft to meet flight schedule.
- Brief Site Manager on aircraft maintenance.
- Perform Acting Site Manager, PASMA, PRAA duties.
- Co Chair and participate as a member of the OH & S Committee.
- Liaise with CSC.
- Plan and supervise maintenance on aircraft.
- Ensure personnel adhere to airworthiness rules and standards.
- Provide input on succession planning, training and advancement.
- Audit and control aircraft Servicing Sets.
- Perform aircraft release (ARA) and maintenance release (MRA).
- Liaise with Operations on aircraft availability, serviceability, schedule and support requirements.
- Fly in support of maintenance, ferry and deployed operations.
- Plan and Lead Detachments and Deployments. Select personnel to support initial deployment and subsequent relief. Deploy to other MOB and/or remote sites, mobile repair parties and ferry flights.
- Provide on-job-training to employees.
- Provide mentorship to Crew Chiefs (CC), developing the CC for assignment of Acting Production Supervisor duties. Develop Crew Chiefs for succession planning.
- Attend training for trade and professional development..
- Ensure personnel complete all assigned training.
- Ensure hangar, shop, stores and office areas are clean.
- Enforce and adhere to policies, procedures and directives established by the Company.
- Perform other tasks as may be required from time to time.
What You Will Bring:
- Thorough knowledge of aircraft systems, including, but not limited to, power plant, flight controls, dynamic systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, environmental, basic structures, avionic and power generation and distribution systems.
- Thorough knowledge of airworthiness requirements as defined in the Technical Airworthiness Manual (TAM) and Maintenance Process Manual (MPM).
- Thorough knowledge of Flight Safety reporting procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of the Company Quality System.
- Perform Quality System management, as required, in relief of the QSSC.
- Thorough knowledge of corrosion control techniques.
- Capable of reading and interpreting technical documentation such as maintenance manuals, work packages, drawings, blueprints and Standard Plant Procedures.
- Capable of performing Non-destructive Inspection, where trained, qualified and authorized.
- Ability to use standard computer programs and such specialized ones as may be necessary in the performances of the duties.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver s license to operate company vehicles and tow tractors.
- Graduate of a CH149 type maintenance course.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in helicopter maintenance is required.
- Progressive experience in the management and leadership of an aircraft maintenance organisation, with experience in supporting operational flying programs and heavy maintenance operations and support sections/Shops.
- Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian government security clearances.
