The role of Operations Analysis & Performance (OAP) is to support this mission by providing strategic insights by first understanding business processes and then leveraging data and analytics to drive continuous improvement efforts. The Analytics Leader will work closely with front-line leaders to develop creative solutions to current business challenges. We are looking for data curious candidates that seek to understand process and can connect with our business partners to leverage data and drive improvement and is able to take a project from end-to-end: gathering business requirements, working with all contributors to the project, and delivering results to the stakeholder without much oversight from a supervisor.Data has transformed the way Delta operates and the Operational Analytics team is the core of the data strategy. The team leverages the data environment to deliver forward-looking insight to business leaders through a variety of analytical techniques. You’ll be empowered to drive innovative analyses using both structured and unstructured data, flagging opportunity areas every step of the way. Responsibilities:Practice safety-conscious behaviors in all operational processes and proceduresHave a team first attitude with the success of our team and business partners as the top priorityUnderstand the business operation and how the data is able to represent the performance or processesLocate and extract data from a variety of sources for use in analysis, models, and project developmentUse descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytical techniques to highlight business challenges, potential solutions, and relevant tradeoffsLeverage emerging technologies and identify efficient and meaningful ways to communicate data and analysis in order to satisfy divisional needsDevelop and improve automated reports, analyses, or dashboards to support senior divisional leaders and the front-line employeesBe able to cater tools to each audience appropriatelyBuild trust with the business teams in order to be a useful thought partnerSupport process improvement and project management engagements for both individual business units and cross-divisional initiativesPresent findings and recommendations to OAP and divisional leadersTrain and mentor other team members in various skillsets and subjectsBe intellectually curious, ask questions and speak up when they have an ideaBe independent workers who look for problems to solve, come up with innovative ideas, and drive implementation of solutions

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications) 5+ years of experience in analysis, information science, data visualization, or other relevant quantitative field preferredSuccessful candidates will have familiarity and/or experience with some or all of the following: SQL, SAS, R, Tableau or other database interface tools and languagesStrong experience with Tableau and/or other data visualization tools Ability to write complex queries, joining data from multiple sources and working with large, messy datasets, to arrive at operational insightsStrong attention to detail and ability to work autonomously and manage multiple requests with varying timelinesAbility to thoughtfully engage and develop team members Must be a strong team player, detail oriented, and perform well under pressureConvey a professional image with ability to lead, manage, and communicate multiple levels within the organizationStrong self-starter with a resilient, solution minded approach to complex problemsEnjoy working in a high-profile environment with fluid priorities, ambiguity, and aggressive deadlinesMust be comfortable working in group and individual settingsConsistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data.
