General Summary

This position is responsible for inspecting tools, reviewing tooling drawings, overseeing proof load tests, and performing periodic inspections on tools for conformance to tooling drawings and specifications.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Interpret drawings, routings, product specifications, and quality requirements to determine dimensions and tolerance specifications.
  • Perform geometric dimensioning and tolerance (GD&T) evaluations.
  • Examine materials and products for surface defects such as cracks, pits, dents, burrs, nicks, and incomplete welds.
  • Compare products with parts lists or sample models to ensure completion of assembly.
  • Follow established procedures to verify specified dimensions of products or materials.
  • Inspect tools, proof loads, and CMM reports to ensure they meet drawings and specifications.
Education, Experience, Certification and/or Licensure
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associates’ Technical Degree preferred.
  • 5 years’ experience as a mechanical inspector strongly preferred.
  • 3 years’ experience as a tooling inspector.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints including true-positional tolerance per ANSI/Y-14.5.
  • Experience with CATIA and SAP strongly preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Self-manage area.
  • Technical knowledge.
  • Overtime/Attendance.
Physical Requirements
  • Routine exposure to equipment operational noise, heat, cold, dust, and aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
  • Ability to stand, sit, squat, walk, bend, move, reach, or stretch for prolonged periods with no restrictions.
  • Work safely and professionally while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations).
  • Ability to read, hear, speak, and see with no restrictions.
  • Comprehend and adhere to management directions and safety instructions.
  • Effectively communicate in Business English.
  • Ability to pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance.
  • Ability to pull, push, carry, lift, or move materials/people/items/equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. or more during the work shift with the use of company-provided reach assistance technology (forklifts, pallet jacks, pulleys, dollies, robotics reach equipment, people movers, etc.).
  • Must have full range of motion and agility.
