Job Description

We are currently seeking multiple Structures Technicians to perform heavy depot-level structural maintenance, repairs and modifications on T-38 aircraft. This position involves a range of technical tasks, ensuring aircraft integrity and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and assess damage to aircraft structural components and formulate proper repair/replacement procedures utilizing applicable technical data.
  • Remove and install close tolerance, high-strength fasteners in major aircraft structural components.
  • Design structural repair, modification, and corrosion protection treatments to maintain structural integrity.
  • Perform post-repair flight control weight and balance functions as well as control surface rigging per designated technical orders.
  • Inspect components and repairs for structural serviceability according to specifications and technical publications.
  • Manufacture and use jigs, fixtures, forms, and molds to fabricate repair or replacement parts.
  • Utilize advanced metalworking practices, equipment, and tools to form, cut, bend, and fasten replacement or repair parts to damaged structures and components.
  • Train in shop drawing and depot level metal layout techniques, including shop mathematics, corrosion identification, removal, repair, prevention, and application of protective coatings and markings.
  • Recommend methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance procedures.
  • Use automated maintenance systems to input, validate, and analyze data processed to automated systems.
  • Inspect, clear, and close out completed maintenance discrepancies in automated maintenance systems.
  • Document maintenance as per Quality Assurance (QA) and established regulatory requirements.
  • Store, handle, and dispose of hazardous waste and materials according to environmental standards and company processes.
  • Operate and maintain related aircraft support equipment.
  • Monitor maintenance trends, analyze equipment requirements, maintain equipment records, document maintenance actions, and update time change database.
  • Perform regular Foreign Object Damage (FOD) walks.
  • Maintain strict tool control procedures, reporting missing, lost, found, or unattended tools to the supervisor and regularly inventorying and inspecting tools.
Essential Skills
  • Expertise in sheet metal repair and aircraft structures (Minimum 6 years of Experience)
  • Experience in heavy depot-level repairs or modifications (Required)
  • Knowledge in aircraft sheet metal and airframe repairs.
  • Skill in installation, modification, and corrosion protection.
  • Proficiency in removing and replacing rivets.
Pay Breakdown and Additional Compensation

All Employees are granted Sick Pay and 11 Paid Holidays. After 1 year of Service, will receive 2 weeks PTO and can accrue up to 3 weeks of PTO.

Level III – Total Pay (40 Hour) - Local: $38.09 / Non-Local: $47.09

Per Diem: $72.00 a day – 5 Days (if qualifies)

Level II – Total Pay (40 Hour) - Local: $36.21 / Non- Local: $45.21

This is a long-term opportunity with a contract to hire arrangement, offering a 5-year base with 2 option years. The position provides very competitive pay for the Birmingham area, and no tools are required, simplifying your work setup.

Work Environment

The work environment is an aircraft hangar, with day shifts from Monday to Friday, operating from 0630 to 1530.
