Job Description:
Perform detailed sheetmetal modifications and repairs on airframes or parts as assigned by the lead technician.
Tasks include assembly, fabrication, and installation of sheetmetal components or aircraft parts and composite /repair of helicopters to support the delivery schedule..
Duties:
Performs the sheet metal installations, modification, and repairs on helicopters airframes
Performs installations of major and minor modifications per STC instructions.
Performs cutting, joining and clearance of sheet metal structure per design drawing and standard practices.
Prepares patterns and/or templates to simplify installation processes and to assure proper dimensions.
Ensures that installations are attached without endangering aircraft structure or systems operation and function.
Makes adjustments to latches, windows, cowlings and covers.
Using engineering blueprints, installs prototype parts and close tolerance materials to print for certification purposes.
Performs sealing of installations. Sealant installations must meet quality guidelines for both form and function.
Performs adjustments to ensure fit on new installations and modifications.
Use a variety of standard and specialized hand tools, power equipment, measuring devices and test equipment in completing work assignments.
Creates help tools and jigs to make installations repeatable and easier for lower level technicians.
Manufactures doublers and small parts as necessary.
Uses Fiche Techniques, Technical and associated Approved documentation, MES, and SAP
Ability to read blueprints, drawings, parts lists, fiche techniques, technical documentation as required
Understand service bulletins, inspections reports and other technical data as required
Refers to documentation (electronic/paper) for proper guidance to perform all tasks required
Documents labor efforts in MES, SAP, and paper requirements as necessary.
Requirements:
Minimum (6) years of sheetmetal installation and/or sheetmetal repair experience on aircraft.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and diagrams, and apply standard shop practices in the fabrication and repair modifications of aircraft structures and repairs.
Current Airframe or Powerplant license or applicable trade school is a plus but not required.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English
Onsite or remote: 90% Onsite
Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings.
Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Daily
Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications.
Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts.
Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs.
Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools.
Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer.
Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving.
Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor.
Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces.
Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
Administrative position only PPE required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
