Position Purpose:
In a team-oriented work environment, under moderate supervision, performs a variety of structural assembly operations in a production department.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
  • Assembly and Fitting: Perform assembly and fitting of detail parts and structures, varied drilling, and riveting operations, ensuring parts/assembly meet FAA requirements, customer specifications, and quality standards.
  • Riveting and Fastening: Rivet structural assemblies and parts, including sheet metal parts, using required tools.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches, and operation sheets to determine sequence of operations, type size, and hole pattern for rivets.
  • Quality Control: Check all work and ensure a defective-free assembly prior to final inspection.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain and use all logs and records, and enter daily labor against correct Work Order and Item numbers using the resource planning system.
  • Part Alignment and Assembly: Align and assemble parts to be riveted using jigs, holding fixtures, pins, clamps, and fasteners.
  • Work Area Maintenance: Maintain a neat and orderly work area, support the company 5S Program, and comply with all safety regulations.
  • Supervision: Work under moderate supervision on duties and tasks.
  • Lean Activities Support: Support Lean Activities.
Additional Functions:
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in continuous improvement activities (e.g., YIAW, Kaizen events, etc.).
  • Housekeeping: Keep shop and aircraft work areas clean and uncluttered.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Properly care for and maintain shop equipment and tools as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Safety Compliance: Comply with safety rules and procedures.
Other Requirements:
  • Aircraft Structures Knowledge: Basic knowledge of various aircraft structures, sheet metal, and fabrication processes.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints.
  • Measurement and Calculation: Read and interpret 6" scale and perform basic shop math.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer skills.
  • Document Comprehension: Read and comprehend basic documents and instructions.
  • Personal Skills: Must have essential personal skills, including an aptitude for hands-on craftwork, a professional attitude, attention to detail, ability to work with people, and meet demanding schedules.
  • Housekeeping and Safety: Must demonstrate good housekeeping and safety practices.
  • Composite Materials: Ability to work with composite resins and materials.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 50 lbs, work any shift, climb ladders/stands/stairs, and work in small spaces and/or restricted areas.
  • Language: Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
