Wyman-Gordon is a worldwide supplier to the aerospace and industrial gas turbine markets. We hold quality accreditations for all of the major airframe and engine manufacturers for both civil and military applications. Wyman-Gordon creates rotating closed-die forgings which are critical for aerospace and land-based gas turbines. Wyman-Gordon also manufactures structural forgings for airframe, nuclear, petrochemical, power generation, and space applications.

Located in South Gate, CA., Dickson Testing Company, Inc. is a full-service destructive testing laboratory serving aerospace and metallic producers worldwide. Our laboratories serve our customers with metallurgical, mechanical, corrosion, and chemical testing services. In support of these services, our facility provides complete specimen fabrication, cut off services, and heat treat capability.

Position Summary:

With minimal supervision, the Mechanical Lab Technician leverages their technical and laboratory experience to setup and operate standard and custom test equipment to conduct specimen testing according to specifications, while meeting Safety, Quality, Productivity and other standards.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Comply with PCC Code of Conduct Requirements and all PCC Cardinal Rules (e.g., Quality and Safety).
  • Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
  • Interpret customer prints and specifications for testing procedures.
  • Select the proper fixturing and testing equipment for testing products.
  • Set up and operate standard and custom test equipment including microscopes, Instron type force equipment, vibration, mechanical shock, and other mechanical lab-related test equipment.
  • Conduct tests, analyzes data and documents results; participates in test readiness reviews.
  • Conduct product evaluation and performance analysis. Establish performance and reliability of the products being tested.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow work procedures for every specimen tested; cannot deviate from work standards.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities such as cross-training and testing in other labs.
  • Good housekeeping of lab area and equipment, and always a safety-first attitude.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve laboratory and test-related problems. Escalate when needed.
  • Periodically check and evaluate in-process procedures.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • A technical degree or certification is highly preferred but not required.
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in a laboratory.

  • Knowledge of contact physics preferred.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $19 to $34.75 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company’s Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company’s bonus multiple, based on the Company’s performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company&39;s medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company’s 401(k) plan.
