What you can expect as an 2nd Shift Manager at West Star:

Partners with day-shift Program Managers to identify, plan and supervise second-shift turnover across varying disciplines (maintenance, modifications and support).  Primarily focuses on safety of employees and aircraft along with quality workmanship to include compliance with customer specification, company procedures and FAA regulations.  Serves as the single point of contact for second-shift team members and customers, this position has overall responsibility for the facility from 3:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. Monday – Thursday.

 

You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS including:

  • Identify, prioritize and plan a nightly turnover flow for the site in coordination with day-shift Program Managers, Senior   Project Manager and the GM.  Ensure work performed is aligned with the site schedule and shift outcomes.
  • Plan and accomplish turnover tasks utilizing second-shift manpower as needed to ensure the Company delivers a high quality and on-time delivery as prioritized by the site scheduled.
  • Provide routine guidance, direction, coaching and leadership to all employees. Identify and address immediate performance, safety, conduct or attendance issues and communicate all other matters to be addressed with the applicable day-shift Program Manager.
  • Ensure Operations Support and Administrative teams have guidelines and resources needed to deliver timely material, components and information to the Airframe and Modification teams.
  • Continuously supervise the performance of work to include adherence to safety standards and equipment, company and FAA regulations along with the proper use of GSE, tools and general housekeeping in the workspace.
  • Prepare a nightly turnover ensuring day-shift Program Managers can resume work without communication delays.
  • Contribute to the quarterly review process for all second-shift employees and recommend training or promotion opportunities to applicable management.
  • Contribute to shift manpower planning including hiring needs and participate in the interview and selection process.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

What you’ll need to bring with you:

 

Your Education:

Possess an Associates Degree, HS Diploma or GED; prefer an A&P license or ability to acquire Repairman Certificate.

 

Your Experience:

  • A minimum of 8 years aviation service center experience to include 4 years of supervisory experience including lead or project management.
  • Possess a high degree of verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to interact effectively with employees, customers and other members of management.
  • Strong leadership abilities to include prior training or learning experiences.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
