JOB PURPOSE 

The Quality Assurance Auditor is responsible to the Director of QA & Continuous Improvement for work assigned.  Ensures that all work they perform is in compliance with Ascent Aviation Services’ FAA accepted Repair Station Manual Quality Control Manual (RSM/QCM) and with applicable FAA regulatory requirements and other applicable regulatory agency guidelines for which Ascent Aviation Services is rated (e.g. FAA, EASA, ISO, etc).  

 

WORKING CONDITIONS 

 

Physical Demands:  Requires sitting or standing for extended periods of time.  Requires frequent walking, bending, stooping, squatting, climbing, and reaching above shoulder level.  Requires occasional crawling, crouching, kneeling, and balancing.  Requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling weight up to 10 pounds.  Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.  Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. 

 

Equipment Operated:  Ladders, stands, hi-lifts, flashlights, magnifying glasses, and standard office equipment. 

Work Location:  Aircraft maintenance hangar, flight line, and maintenance offices. 

Potential Hazards:  Exposure to high intensity noise levels, changes in temperature, materials identified on Material Safety Data Sheets.  Working at heights and around moving machinery. 

Protective Equipment Required:  Goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, aprons, gloves, safety harnesses and breathing equipment. 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

Essential Job Functions: 

  • Relate effectively with interdepartmental personnel and outside agencies, including FAA, 

EASA, ISO, CASE, and customer audit personnel regarding quality assurance issues. 

  • Plan, schedule, and conduct internal audits and provide ongoing objective evaluations of  

processes and documentation in accordance with FAA, EASA, CASE 1A standard and ISO 9001/ AS9110. 

  • Experience and ability to perform fuel storage audits to determine process adequacy and compliance to RSM/QCM, NFPA 10, NFPA 407, ATA 103 and Operational Fuel Manual requirements. 

  • Conduct follow-up and compliance audits to ensure process improvement and corrective/preventive action implementation and effectiveness. 

  • Generate detailed audit reports (Corrective Action Requests - CARs) identifying deficiencies to provide data for use in the correction of potential problems and to meet requirements of regulatory agencies and document objective evidence of the discrepancies. 

  • Comply with the vendor audit procedures in the RSM/QCM. Verify sub-contractor ability to work to quality standards which includes review of Quality Assurance surveys and performing on-site audits. 

  • Performs and assists departments in performing effective root-cause analysis to uncover, and accurately recommend corrective actions for, factual explanations for a deficiency or non-compliance. 

  • Recommends and coordinates appropriate corrective action to quality deficiencies within the company or externally.  

  • Prepares accurate and timely reports of all audit findings which are representative of the quality performance of the item under audit, to enable the company or vendor to maintain its quality system. 

  • Identify and report quality problems or trends in the assigned area.  Data may be obtained from a variety of sources including vendor quality performance monitoring. 

  • Maintain a system of tracking all aspects of the audits including planning, scheduling, corrective action tracking and completion based on yearly audit schedule. 

  • Performs daily surveillance audits of various areas of the facility to ensure compliance. 

  • Maintain records of all audits in accordance with RSM/QCM and SOP manuals. 

 

Marginal Job Functions: 

  • Assists in Quality Assurance and continuous improvement projects and duties as needed.   

  • Assist the department in the achievement of company and departmental goals and improve the overall maintenance product. 

  • Ensure that all work performed is done in a safe manner. Directs activities to protect employees from harm and maintain safe working conditions. 

SMS REQUIREMENTS 

  • Will participate in and support safety initiatives, safe work practices and SMS compliance. 

  • Will participate in safety activities including the following: immediately reporting hazards, unsafe work practices and accidents/injuries. 

  • Will follow all safety rules, FAA regulations, PPE compliance and equipment operation requirements.
