Role Objective:

The Lead Technician is responsible for oversight of his/her assigned team members with all projects in work. This position requires a high level of expertise in effective communication skills, prioritization, organization and time management skills. In conjunction with the Floor Supervisor, the individual will ensure that the assigned projects and tasks for the day are carried out accordingly by his/her team of technicians. The Lead Technician will also provide daily status report to the Floor Supervisor or DOM as required to ensure the projects are kept on schedule and on budget.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for making sure the assigned techs are completing daily work completion goals and effectively accomplishing all tasks on time. 
  • Work in conjunction with the Shop Supervisor to ensure all maintenance is carried out with the highest sense of safety and quality while maintaining schedules. 
  • Ensure discrepancies are being diagnosed correctly and the correct parts are being ordered through the correct processes and delivers on time. 
  • Monitor projects for labor utilization compared to flat rated quotes to make sure the teams are accomplishing all tasks in the correct amount of time. 
  • Delivering daily progress and status reports to the Shop Supervisor or DOM. 
  • Plan and assign duties for team members to ensure projects are completed on schedule and withing set budget.
  • Assist the floor supervisor with working feedback for performance evaluations on techs. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively interact and tactfully communicate with various Customers and Maintenance personnel, both in person and in writing.
  • Must be able to read, write and understand safety plans, rules, maintenance instructions, training manuals, Material Data Safety Sheets (MSDS), maintenance bulletins and procedure manuals.
  • Must be able to effectively operate the company’s computer-based applications/software and aircraft maintenance tracking programs, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Must maintain high standards of performance for self and others; demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement in all aspects of the business; monitor, coach and mentor the maintenance team.

Work Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • FAR Part 145 aircraft maintenance in a hangar and ramp environment
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Good vision and depth perception
  • Availability during nights, weekends, & holidays as needed

Travel:

  • Some travel is required.

Required Education/Experience:

  • Minimum five years of experience in maintaining aircraft with verifiable practical experience as an active aircraft mechanic in a maintenance organization.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a supervisory position in a maintenance organization.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a Part 145 environment.
  • Must have a thorough working knowledge and understanding of FARs, aircraft technical bulletins, service bulletins, airworthiness directives, aircraft systems, and the ability to communicate this knowledge to the required persons.
  • Previous Lead Technician experience preferred.
  • FAA Airframe and Power Plant Certification or license (A&P)
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver license and must meet the companys vehicle insurance requirements.
  • Subject to pre-employment and random drug testing.
  • Must pass a background check.
