JOB SUMMARY:
Works in a self-direct environment to support multiple commodity and cross functional teams to identify and solve schedule issues, quality issues and supplier performance issues with a focus on process improvement. Works with suppliers to facilitate self-service problem solving and drives continuous supplier improvement. Often serves as the technical liaison between supply chain, engineering, and the supplier.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Works closely with Engineering, Quality, Process Engineering, Product Engineering, Product Support, etc. to solve strategic and tactical supply problems, gain cross-functional involvement, “buy-in” of solutions, and satisfy needs of customers.
• Drives continuous supplier improvement to achieve desired performance level and addresses the risks associated with the preferred supply base selection.
• Encourages and coordinates early supplier involvement in highly technical and/or contractually complex new products and parts design using the supplier’s expertise to optimize quality and produce-ability.
• Develops material forecasts using multiple systems and material usage planning data to determine where a raw material is used, where it is made, and the quantity needed projecting out one year or more time frame.
• Determines appropriate alternate materials that are available as necessary and coordinates with Materials and Process Engineering and Product Engineering as needed.
• Coordinate support and schedule recovery of major assembly manufacture at sub tier supply base on all parts from detail to large assemblies.
• Assists suppliers with development and execution of lean manufacturing tools for major assembly activity providing on-site support as necessary.
• Coordinates and prepares Senior Leadership Team meetings with key suppliers.
• Maintains current knowledge on any trends by personal contacts, industry reports, trade journals, magazines, participation in professional organizations, etc.
