Key Responsibilities
- Working with various departments: Process Engineering, Development Engineering, Quality to build an understanding of the various parts and materials/alloys we work with
- Interpreting data from experiments to understand the properties of metal and effects of various processes on the products/parts we build
- Applying knowledge of metallurgy to solve problems in manufacturing and to improve metalworking processes
- Documenting test results, procedures, and recommendations for future reference
- Shadowing staff in the Laboratory to build an understanding of melting, heat treatments, welding and chemical processing and laboratory functions
- Building relationships with internal and external partners while learning the foundry audit processes
- Participating in continuous improvement of the laboratory, melting department and other departments throughout the plant to build relationships and understanding of Alloys and various materials
Education Requirements
- Post-Secondary education in Mechanical/Metallurgical/Materials Engineering from a recognized University or College.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Experience with Solid Works, AutoCAD, and metal solidification simulation software (MAGMA) will be considered an asset
- 1-3 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment would be an asset
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written with the ability to motivate and build a good teamworking environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to deal effectively with internal and external partners
- Ability to achieve objectives and goals within tight deadlines with minimal supervision
Security Requirements:
- We conduct a criminal Record Check on all new hires
- We conduct a Government Controlled Goods Program (CGP) Check on all new hires; must be able to give 3 references to help verify your identity
Work Conditions:
- The ideal candidate will be able to work 7am to 3:30pm Monday to Friday with occasional overtime as needed
- All staff must wear CSA approved footwear, hearing protection and safety glasses when entering the production floor
