Job Title: Inventory Control Specialist
Job DescriptionThe Inventory Control Specialist manages inventory within a bonded stores facility, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. This role oversees the custody and tracking of both company-owned inventory and Government Furnished Property (GFP), maintaining strict adherence to regulatory, contractual, and bonded storage requirements. The specialist receives, stores, issues, and packages materials with proper labeling and documentation, conducts regular inventory counts, supports audits, and manages hazardous materials in accordance with OSHA and EPA standards while utilizing Deltek Costpoint Inventory Management software or similar ERP systems.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory records in the inventory management system, including timely and precise data entry for all transactions.
- Conduct regular physical inventory counts and cycle counts, reconcile discrepancies, and implement corrective actions to maintain high inventory accuracy.
- Receive incoming materials and equipment, verify quantities and documentation, and ensure proper labeling, storage, and documentation in the system.
- Issue materials and equipment in accordance with work orders, manufacturing orders, or project requirements, ensuring proper tracking of inventory movement and GFP.
- Manage bonded storage inventory in compliance with strict security, handling, and documentation procedures, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
- Oversee the storage and handling of hazardous materials in accordance with OSHA and EPA standards, ensuring proper segregation, labeling, and documentation.
- Coordinate closely with procurement, manufacturing, quality assurance, shipping, and other internal departments to meet project deadlines and resolve inventory-related issues.
- Support internal and external inventory and property audits by providing accurate records, documentation, and explanations of inventory transactions and controls.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and losses, document findings, and work with relevant stakeholders to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including verifying shipments, updating inventory records, and ensuring timely movement of materials.
- Ensure proper custody, control, and documentation of Government Furnished Property (GFP) in alignment with contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Utilize Deltek Costpoint Inventory Management software or similar ERP inventory systems to manage, track, and report on inventory and property.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of inventory control processes, procedures, and internal controls to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Essential Skills- 3+ years of inventory management experience in a warehouse, manufacturing, or similar environment.
- Hands-on experience utilizing an ERP-based inventory management software system, such as Deltek Costpoint Inventory Management or similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control practices, including inventory accuracy, cycle counts, and reconciliation of discrepancies.
- Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including documentation and system updates.
- Understanding of bonded storage operations and how bonded storage works, including related documentation and control requirements.
- Ability to perform accurate and efficient data entry related to inventory transactions and records.
- Knowledge of supply chain and warehouse inventory processes, including material flow and storage best practices.
- Ability to support and participate in inventory and property audits, ensuring documentation is complete and accurate.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain precise records and follow established procedures.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams such as procurement, manufacturing, quality, and shipping.
Additional Skills & Qualifications- Preferred: Knowledge of government property management practices, including familiarity with FAR 52.245-1 requirements.
- Preferred: Experience managing or tracking Government Furnished Property (GFP) within an inventory control environment.
- Preferred: Ability to operate a forklift safely and in accordance with facility procedures.
- Familiarity with OSHA and EPA standards related to the storage and handling of hazardous materials.
- General understanding of bonded storage compliance and related security and documentation requirements.

Work Environment
This role is based in a climate-controlled facility that supports comfort and consistency throughout the workday. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch break, providing predictable daytime hours and work-life balance. The environment includes modern, well-maintained equipment and an ERP-based inventory management system, such as Deltek Costpoint Inventory Management, to support efficient and accurate work. The setting is structured, process-oriented, and safety-conscious, particularly regarding bonded storage and the handling of hazardous materials.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX 77058.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $32.00/hr.
