Job Summary:
As a member of our elite Systems Security Engineering (SSE) team, we want you to develop solutions to protect the Warfighter’s technology advantage. Systems Security Engineering creates holistic security solutions leveraging Anti-Tamper (AT), Cyber Security, Software Assurance, and Supply Chain Risk Management to support Program Protection Implementation on embedded weapons systems.
This position can be a Junior, Senior, or Post Graduate Technical Intern based on the candidates qualifications and standing as outlined below:
- (Junior Technical Intern) - must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program and classified as a Junior by start of internship and provide proof of graduation prior to first day of employment
- (Senior Technical Intern)- must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program and classified as a Senior by start of internship and provide proof of graduation prior to first day of employment
- (Post-Graduate Technical Intern) - must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a graduate degree program (in degree fields listed in Qualifications You Must Have) by start of internship

What You Will Do:
- Supporting the development of cybersecurity / anti-tamper requirements, design and architecture artifacts, plans, and policies
- Defining security development and test efforts implementation of security controls of networking devices, databases, operating systems, and hardware and software component
- Understanding and integrating cybersecurity development activities
- Performing analysis on cybersecurity collected data and test results
- Conducting technical and nontechnical trade studies
- Validate secure configuration of routers, switches, firewalls, servers, operating systems, applications, and other assets, using
- DoD approved scanning and assessment tools such as ACAS, STIG, SCAP Compliance Checker, and HBSS
- Apply written and oral communication skills
- Participate in the design and development of systems
Qualifications You Must Have:
- This position is for an intern who is enrolled in a Bachelor’s (or higher) degree program and will be at minimum, entering their Junior, Senior, or Post Graduate standing level by the start of Summer 2026.
- Applied engineering experience or coursework with exposure in one or more of the following domains: Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware development, Systems Integration and/or Test, ASIC development, Cybersecurity, System Security, Digital Electronics design or similar work history.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Cyber Security or Program Protection experience and / or course work
- 3.00 cumulative GPA required
- Active Department of Defense clearance
- Past work experience (professional or academic) interacting with multidisciplinary teams of system design professionals including electrical, mechanical, software and logistics engineers
- Experience in design, development and fielding of secure systems for military applications: “relevant experience” is knowledge of a broad array of program protection concepts, reverse engineering tools and techniques, failure analysis, and cryptography.
- Detailed understanding of and experience in engineering security solutions for Government customers
- Prior work experience giving technical briefs or presentations after synthesizing or generating technical materials from multidisciplinary sources
- Matlab and/or C++ experience
- Modeling and Simulation experience
- Experience with model-based systems engineering
- Ability to visualize system functionality, to create block diagrams, and to analyze system performance
- Ability to analyze issues and define solutions
- Ability to perform trade studies to optimize system performance
- Familiarity with DoD customer infrastructure with respect to command and control, telemetry, flight test, ISR, fixed wing, and/or rotary wing systems
- Understanding of Systems Engineering Product Development Cycle
- Strong communication skills including effective written, verbal, and listening skills

Security Clearance:
This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
