Job Description:

Nature and Scope:

The individual that serves as the Director of Operations will oversee all Corporate Eagle regulatory compliance and company safety management systems.

Subordination:

Reports directly to the President and Chief Operating Officer (Accountable Executive) and, is directly responsible for the execution of the approved Operations Program in accordance with established procedures and standards to assure safe, reliable and efficient function.

The Director of Operations supervises the Chief Pilot.

Power and Authority:

The Director of Operations has the authority to ensure that all Corporate Eagle flight activities are carried out in in a manner that is consistent with safety and are operated in accordance with applicable requirements and industry standards and practices.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • DIRECT AND MANAGE THE CORPORATE EAGLE SAFETY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
  • Lead the company and promote the highest level of safety by committing to our safety management system. Oversee ISBAO training, FAA compliance while promoting a culture of safety within our team.
  • Create buy in from employees to participate in proactive risk mitigation. Lead regular safety management meetings.
  • Lead ISBAO program audits to ensure compliance. Create a culture of safety with employees who want to participate.

The Director of Operations will provide a formulation of policies and procedures for the conduct and governing safe, efficient operations and has the day-to-day operational responsibility for managing flight operations to ensure availability of sufficient resources for the safe operation, including: 

  • Management of flight operations record keeping and coordination of operational functions for maximum efficiency of operations;
  • Excellent understanding of the 
  • Execution of an operations program with established procedures and standards to assure safe, reliable, and efficient function;
  • FAA Drug and alcohol testing program;
  • Policy and management liaison with the assigned FAA Principal Operations Inspector of the Certificate holding office of the Federal Aviation Administration;
  • The development and planning of personnel rules, policy, for optimum departmental safety.
  • Supervising the distribution and posting of information or memoranda relative to any changes affecting Company policy, route information, nav­aids, NOTAMS, requisitioning of flying aids, aeronautical charts, etc.;
  • Obtaining or contracting for the necessary diplomatic clearances prior to departure for flights into or over foreign states listed within Operations and Management Specifications as applicable;
  • Maintenance, custody, contents, issuance, and currency of the General Operations and Program Operations Manuals.
  • Custodianship of FAA issued Operations and Management Specifications;
  • Distribution and revision of Operations manuals, including appropriate Chapters and Volumes assigned to the aircraft, Company, and designated contractual facilities;
  • Ensuring that no aircraft is used in company operations unless the aircraft is properly registered and certificated in accordance with appropriate Federal Aviation Regulations and that the aircraft complies within all airworthiness requirements;
  • To maintain and to renew all matters related to all related training and flight operations approvals, if applicable;
  • To maintain and operate an effective Safety Management System (SMS) and is ensure that the safety management goals are met;
  • Implementation of safety policy and applicable safety standards, in their area of activity;
  • Monitoring of safety standards, including the adherence of employees to these standards, also by means of inspections;
  • Promotes corporate culture of safety and quality, philosophy, policies and overall standard of performance, risk awareness and associated behavior;
  • Assurance of a comprehensive document and record management/ storage/ archive and liaising with the competent authority regarding administration and coordination;
  • Assurance that all subordinates meet the qualification requirements for their respective activities, management and planning of continuous education/ currency and development of the subordinates.
  • Excellent understanding of the fundamental principles of flight, aerodynamics, airmanship, aircraft systems and instrument flight rules.
  • Excellent understanding of FAA, ICAO, and other safety regulations.
  • Excellent knowledge of Flight Management Systems (FMS), glass cockpit, and aircraft systems. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and in tight time frames

The Director of Operations duties include:

  • Evaluation of safety performance indicators in their field of activity;
  • Evaluation of safety relevant records in order to avoid the occurrence of undesirable trends;
  • Recording and analysis of any deviations from company specific standards and ensuring correction, corrective action and preventive action within the organizational unit;
  • Compilation of periodical data evaluation as an input to management evaluation activities;

At Corporate Eagle, the Accountable Manager is the Director of Operations.  The Accountable Manager is responsible for the oversight and effective implementation of the Corporate Eagle Safety Management System. 

The Accountable Manager’s duties include:

  • Ensuring that processes needed for the SMS are established, implemented and maintained;
  • Reporting the performance of the SMS to the organization;
  • Ensuring the promotion of safety awareness and safety requirements throughout Corporate Eagle;
  • The management and modification co Corporate Eagle’s annual training plan to include emerging risks;
  • Participating as a designated Emergency Response Plan “Go-Team” Member; and
  • Participating as a designated Safety Review Board Member.
