Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Rubber Tooling Engineer to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining tooling for rubber molding and extrusion processes. This role requires a strong background in tooling design, and process optimization for rubber-based components.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop molds, dies, and tooling for rubber molding and extrusion processes (compression, transfer, and injection molding).
- Participate in new product introduction (NPI) and design-for-manufacturing (DFM) efforts.
- Work closely with production, quality, and R&D to ensure tooling meets functional and durability requirements. Specify tooling materials and treatments based on rubber compound properties and production needs.
- Oversee tool fabrication, troubleshooting, and modifications with internal teams and external suppliers.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase tooling life, reduce scrap, and enhance product quality.
- Maintain tooling documentation, CAD files, and change control records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or associate’s in manufacturing engineering, or related fields.
3+ years of experience in rubber tooling or mold design.
Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar).
Familiarity with rubber molding processes and rubber compound behavior.
- Understanding of machining and tool fabrication methods.
- Experience with CAD software and design tools. (Inventor, AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
- Knowledge of rubber materials and manufacturing processes a plus.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of ISO/TS quality standards.
- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Project management experience with tooling implementation.
