As a Structural Dynamics Engineer at our Rockford Facility, you’ll be crucial in designing, testing, and optimizing aircraft electrical power generation and distribution systems. You’ll combine advanced simulations with hands-on work to ensure the safety and performance of critical components in aircraft.

What You Will Do
Perform vibration testing, including development, qualification, and hardware diagnostics. Tasks include test set-up, conducting the test using electrodynamic shakers, data reduction, and presentation of results.
Perform turbine rotor balancing and performance monitoring of production hardware in low-speed wind tunnels and on the test floor.
Perform data acquisition and analysis using a variety of signal conditioning techniques and dynamic signal analyzers.
Perform experimental modal analysis using electro-dynamic shaker and impact hammer techniques.
Perform experimental stress analysis and assist engineers in strain gage application, bridge circuit layout, testing, and presentation of results.
Perform structural dynamic modeling to predict natural frequencies, mode shapes, and response levels using finite element methods (ANSYS) and other analytical modeling tools.
Assist other groups within the Design Support department.
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience

Qualifications We Prefer
Preferred degree in Mechanical, Structural, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
Knowledge of mechanical systems, structural analysis tools, and instrumentation/signal analysis equipment
Experience running vibration testing on electro-dynamic shakers
Experience in a test lab
Analytical or test experience with rotordynamics
Experience with aerospace industry regulations

The salary range for this role is 66,000 USD - 130,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
