The Tooling and Manufacturing Engineer is a member of the engineering team who is responsible for the design and development of manufacturing tools, prototypes parts, and manufacturing processes for Robinson Helicopter products. The Tooling and Manufacturing Engineer is the critical link between design and manufacturing who ensures that parts are designed for manufacturing and manufacturing efficiently achieves the intent of the design.
Responsibilities - Propose, design, fabricate, qualify, and maintain the tools necessary to manufacture parts while meeting schedule and quality objectives
- Collaborate with Design Engineers and manufacturing personnel to optimize part design for manufacturability
- Develop manufacturing methods and work instructions for new design parts
- Interface with Quality to ensure tools and prototype parts meet quality objectives
- Manage schedule on assigned projects
- Collaborate with vendors on the design and fabrication of tools to ensure cost, schedule, and quality objectives are achieved
- Investigate, root cause, and resolve production issues associated with tooling or manufacturing process
- Document tool designs, processes, and specifications
- Contribute insights and innovations to improve the product and organization
- Maintain required records and conduct audits to verify compliance with processes and procedures
- Interface with external suppliers of components and services to establish requirements and ensure compliance with requirements
