Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Staff Structural Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Sentinel (GBSD) program.
What You’ll Get To Do:
Execute linear and nonlinear structural analysis scope using ABAQUS, Ansys, or FEMAP (w/Nastran solver).
Direct and review analysis efforts related to support equipment development. This includes finite element (static, transient, buckling, modal), weld, and bolted joint analyses.
Support test objective development for model verification/validation and qualification.
Generate analysis documentation artifacts and prepare CDRL for customer deliveries.
Deliver required ADPs on time to meet program objectives.
Identify gaps and holes within analyses and/or requirements and collaborate with other stakeholders to resolve these with minimal impact to budget and schedule.
Ensure the developed technical solution and ADPs meet the analysis and design requirements and product specifications from the various element/configured item specifications.
Support digital transformation initiatives relating to ADP development and release.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) with 12 years’ experience; 10 years’ experience with a Master’s degree; or 8 years’ experience with a PhD
Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP)
Proficiency with ABAQUS, FEMAP, or ANSYS software
Experience creating analysis reports and presenting results to peers and leadership
Experience leading analysis teams and managing individual assignment tasking
Experience creating formalized analysis workflows and processes
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Proficient writer and able to verbally communicate technical content
Advanced or expert proficiency with ABAQUS, FEMAP, or ANSYS
Exposure to structural test applications
Experience with seismic analysis (ASCE 7)
Exposure to missiles program requirements and derivation of structural requirements
Ability to navigate through NX 3D models and CPLM
TCSim CPLM Experience
Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.
Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations.
Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner.
Demonstrated experience working with customers to ensure project success
Experience in performing in an Agile environment and knowledge/understanding of JIRA
Experience reviewing and approving manufacturing RCI’s and non-conformances
Primary Level Salary Range: $147,700.00 - $221,500.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
