Role Purpose
Responsible for the maintenance, control and quality performance of all Spirit Suppliers from a quality perspective, through the deployment of supplier reviews, regular recorded communications and surveillance activities. Ensure that all supplier non-conformities are reviewed and where necessary, escalated using the appropriate Spirit processes to drive robust RCCA and get-well / improvement plans. Ensure that the Prestwick Programs are adequately supported in terms of management of supplier quality issues, including clear communication of all issues. Maintain and discharge a supplier audit schedule to satisfy the requirements of Spirit, AS9100, customer and regulatory requirements, such as EASA Pt 21G. Drive towards improved supplier quality performance through the creation of metrics for key processes and agreed targets, driving the use of APQP methodology in line with recognised industry requirements. Report on supplier performance through regular internal KPI reviews.

Responsibilities
- To actively review and develop suppliers manufacturing processes, ensuring they are maintained within “control” limits and product Quality is achieved.
- Assist in the deployment of the Quality Policy to reflect the Spirit Global Strategy and regulatory requirements.
- Project management and audit of suppler qualification activities.
- Conducting Quality Assurance audits of the supply chain.
- Provide specialist supplier quality support to IPTs and other Functions (including investigation support).
- Manage and support the supplier quality interface and ensure that all supplier quality issues and non-conformances are managed to an agreed timescale.
- To support and contribute to the project Quality review mechanism ensuring focus on improvement and ensure that all key quality issues are escalated within the business review structure to drive root cause correction.
- Report regularly on the quality performance of the supply chain,Co-ordinate the generation and deployment of Metrics to support business requirements.
- Work with global procurement team to control and issue company policies, procedures, instructions and. other documentation.
- Assist in the deployment of the Material Review Board (MRB) process.
- Act as coach and mentor to junior Engineers.
- First Article Inspection/Verification (FAI/V) support to any major modifications or supplier transfer activities if required.
- Engage with suppliers and plan and discharge a supplier review process, covering all quality aspects. This should drive quality improvements in the supply chain and should also drive implementation of APQP on all programs
- Responsible for people issues in the absence of the Supplier Quality Team Leader and related WTMS responsibilities.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Preferably be qualified to HNC / HND level in Quality or related Engineering discipline and/or have relevant experience in Quality Management and working to deadlines
- Experience of auditing is preferred
- Have 5 years minimum relevant engineering experience, within a Quality or Manufacturing Engineering Aerospace environment
- Should also ideally possess knowledge of AS 9100 as well as regulatory authority approval, and certification requirements. The candidate should possess a good working practical knowledge of APQP principles, tools and methodologies
- Good communication skills – with the ability to interface at all levels within Spirit and suppliers
- Experience of Airbus and Boeing products, engineering drawings and specification requirements would be preferable
- A good working knowledge of Microsoft Packages – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Power BI, Smartsheet and Access
- Experience in various manufacturing processes, able to walk the processes and effectively verify all key process parameters. (Metallic Machining, Detail Fabrication and Composite manufacturing experience)
- Able to drive actions autonomously without support, be tenacious and assertive as an effective member of a team
- Experience with practical problem solving, continuous improvement, root cause analysis and corrective action tool sets
- Experience with first article inspection to AS9102 requirements
- Knowledge / some background in and can articulate materials and processes engineering information
Decision Making Authority
- Guidance is typically available from established policies or from related procedures.
- Decisions which affect their own job may need to be made autonomously / occasionally require approval. On occasions decisions which impact on the customer or suppliers will require some approval from the Team Leader.
