The Boeing Company is currently seeking Senior Software Engineers to join the Cabin Experience Network Software Engineering Team located in Everett, Washington or Seattle, Washington.

This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Commercial Airlines (BCA) business organization.

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Software Engineer to lead the design and development of our next-generation cloud-based and airborne digital backbone systems. The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers and system engineers, designing systems/software applications for scalable, configurable, reliable, secure, and well-integrated with build and deploy tools.

This role will play a critical role in shaping the direction of our technologies and ensuring that our systems meet the needs of our airline customers. You will also be responsible for the performance of the software architecture, integration and for ensuring that the software meets the quality standards of the company and industry. You will lead team to brainstorming and gather requirements; develop strategies for end-to-end process improvement of performance and quality; In addition, you will be responsible for ensuring the security of the software architecture meets Boeing Cyber and Network Security requirements.

This position requires 10 travel.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Design, document, and communicate the software architecture to various stakeholders, including developers, QA, ops, etc.

  • Work with other architects, engineers, and product managers to ensure that the architecture is properly implemented and integrated

  • Evaluate new technologies and approaches to see if they can be used to improve the architecture or the development process

  • Lead trade studies and be able to make justifiable decisions based on those trade-offs.

  • Set the technical goal and strategy for delivering on requirements of high scale, reliability, performance, and development velocity

  • Lead a team of software engineers and mentor others to perform software engineering work statement.

  • Lead the design and development of the companys ground, cloud, and airborne software application

  • Ensure the selected technology architecture is aligned with the companys business goals

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.  This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required.  “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science

  • 9&43; years’ experience in software development, with at least 3 years in software leadership role

  • 5&43; years’ of experience in software architecture role for cloud-based, or airborne systems

  • Experience in multiple programming languages, including Java, C&43;&43;, and Python

  • Experience leading Agile software development teams

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Have one of the following technical experiences:

    • Linux base OS (such as Ubuntu, Yocto).

    • Cyber security

    • Networking programming (such as 5G, WIFI, Bluetooth)

    • Design and deploy software development tool kit (SDK)

  • Master’s degree in computer science or related field

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS and Azure

  • Experience with DevOps tools and processes

  • Experience in the DO-178C (or equivalent) lifecycle is a plus

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD&43;4 years related work experience, Master&43;7 years related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range for Experienced:  $130,900.00 - $177,100.00
