This role focuses on building scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud-native applications using AWS, with a strong emphasis on microservices, containerization, and modern development practices.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Collaborate with the technical teams, business teams, and product managers to ensure that the code that is developed meets their vision.Align to Security/Compliance frameworks and controls requirements.Design and develop microservices using Spring Boot, RESTful APIs, and GraphQL to meet functional and technical requirements.Write clean, testable code in Java and Python, with unit testing using JUnit.Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline.Use Maven or Gradle for build automation and dependency management.Architect and implement containerize, using Docker and orchestrate with Kubernetes, and cloud native applications.Work with SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis) databases.Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.Monitor, optimize, and secure cloud environments using AWS-native tools.Optimize cloud costs and performance through monitoring, automation, and best practices.Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor junior engineers.

What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications) 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering with a focus on AWS.Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, with 8+ years of relevant technical experience or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems with 2+ years of technical experience.Strong programming skills in Java (Spring Boot) and Python.Experience with JUnit for unit testing and GraphQL for API development.Proficiency with Maven or Gradle for build and dependency management.Deep understanding of microservices architecture and API design.Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS container services.Hands-on experience with AWS services: EC2, Lambda, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC, etc.Proficiency in SQL and NoSQL database technologies.Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles.Is at least 18 years of age and has authorization to work in the United States.
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications) AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional).Experience with event-driven architectures (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis, SNS/SQS).Familiarity with serverless computing and edge services (e.g., AWS LambdaEdge, CloudFront).Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps culture.Experience in the airline or retail industry, with domain-specific knowledge.
