Manufacturing Engineer on a 6-12 month contract (possible extension or even permanent)
Location is Cambridge/Huntingdon
Aerospace industry
Hourly rate is 28 per hour PAYE plus 4.51 per hour holiday/38.52 per hour Umbrella (this can be explained in detail If needed)
Below is the job description but not all experience listed is required, experience will be considered against this, Aerospace or Medical background is desired but again not essential:
Responsibilities and requirements:
• Review product concepts and detailed design solutions and recommend production and manufacturing easements that will reduce cost, simplify the process and reduce lead-time.
• Perform Production Engineering drawing checks for new and revised parts.
• Generate standard processes to allow Operations to manufacture and assemble the product in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
• Be able to perform or support root cause analyses related to product quality issues and support the implementation of corrective actions.
• Determine the preferred Condition of Supply (CoS) for parts/components
• Control own work within budget and schedule requirements.
• To comply with the Marshall BMS (Business Management System) and LCM (Lifecycle management) processes.
• Contribute to both PMP (Project Management Plan) and SEMP (Systems Engineering Management Plan), providing support for the production and manufacturing approach.
• Support bid teams with the creation of concept solutions, work breakdown structures and estimates for production and manufacturing.
• Identify the requirement for jigs and fixtures and support their development in alignment with the assembly approach via Statement of Work (SoW) generation.
• Be able to review processes and proposed process changes for validity against Process Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (PFMEA) applications.
• Communicate process changes to Operations.
• Review and assess new technology and develop manufacturing processes that reduce cost, improve quality or increase efficiency.
• Develop a continuous improvement culture by supporting the implementation of lean techniques.
• Advise on systems, facility layouts and capital equipment to enhance the product manufacturing and assembly process. Support new capital expenditure requirements, methods and commissioning as required.
• Ensure correct booking to costing/budget system.
• Contribute to own personal development plan.
Qualifications
• Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel along with a knowledge and interest in emerging technologies.
• Ability to interact with all levels of internal personnel and represent the department externally.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Dynamic and proactive attitude.
• Possess demonstrable experience of working in a similar role.
• Ideally possess a technical qualification appropriate to the role
• Experience of aerospace component manufacturing and assembly processes within an ISO9100 accredited production environment.
