Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines and auxiliary power units. The company offers a well-balanced portfolio of engines for next generation fighters and commercial aircraft, and leads the industry with our GTFTM family of engines and patented Geared TurbofanTM technology. Today, we are an established aviation player in Europe, with more than 30 years of presence in the region. We manufacture engine parts for GTFTM  engines, IAE V2500 and the PW4000 engine family, and operate businesses that provide aircraft engine parts repair and overhaul.

Under the P&W Commercial Afterspanet Organization, P&W Mature Commercial Engines owns and manages commercial Fleet Hour Agreement (FHA) contracts for IAE V2500 Engines.

The successful candidate will develop constructive working relationships within MCE, including Powerplant Engineering & Cost, Business Analytics, Network Operations and Fleet Management as well as internationally located Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul Centers.

Responsibilities:

As the local Powerplant Engineer at the Iberia shop in Madrid, the candidate will be based at the Maintenance Center and report directly to the Senior Manager (Europe / Middle-East), Powerplant Engineering and Cost. The primary responsibilities include writing original and revised workscopes in support of V2500 engine overhaul and repair, and controlling maintenance cost for the engines going through the overhaul shop. The candidate will be working with the local maintenance center teams, PW Resident Maintenance Center Managers, PW Fleet Managers and other support organizations to accomplish these goals

The remit of a Powerplant Engineer is wide-ranging and diverse, however the following key deliverables will be crucial to success in the role:

  • Writing original and revised workscopes for contracted engines under the FHA, in consultation with Fleet Management, IAE Field Service Reps and the Airline.
  • Acting as the technical  focal point for the Maintenance Centre for technical inquiries related to the shop visit, including workscope upgrade approvals.
  • Conducting invoice reviews to identify top cost drivers and generate cost reduction ideas that will benefit future shop visits.
  • Conducting reviews of unserviceable or removed engine hardware for potential salvage, Engine Manual changes or future repair development.
  • Collaborating with PW Engineering teams in East Hartford, Fleet Management and customers to monitor fleet health, understand technical risks and take actions to mitigate.
  • Collaborating  with a cross-functional team on cost reduction ideas and their implementation in PW network shops, as well as identifying new opportunities for evaluation through the PW Program Office and Repair Council process.
  • Collaborating with local Maintenance Center to identify in-process opportunities which control workscope and reduce maintenance cost, without compromise to quality.
  • In-process maintenance cost tracking by engine, to enable proactive measures that control shop visit cost.
  • Occasional travel will be required to European and Middle-East based Maintenance Centers, as well as the P&W headquarters located in East Hartford, Connecticut, USA.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a minimum of 8 years’ experience in a technical role.
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Powerplant Engineering, Engine Test, Design, Process Engineering, Airline Powerplant Engineering or MRO shop Operations.
  • Capable of communicating effectively in English and in Spanish.
  • Ability to work independently, with good interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Preferably with technical knowledge of commercial gas turbine engines and preparation of shop visit workscopes.
  • Preferably familiar with the engine overhaul processes, engine hardware, assembly, disassembly, operation and testing.

Candidates are expected to be currently located in Spain with proper work authorizations. The company will not support relocation and/or Immigration.
