Boeing Defense & Space (BDS) is seeking a high-performing, collaborative entry or associate Materials and Processes (M&P) Mechanical Standard Parts Engineer to join our team located in Berkeley, MO. The ideal candidate will be responsible for qualifying and implementing new standard mechanical parts such as fasteners, bushings/bearings, and fluid fittings onto our production aircraft programs and will have a mechanical or assembly engineering background. The selected candidate will join a high-performing, experienced team with strong mentorship in support of multiple defense programs and will report to the Materials and Process Technology team within the BDS organization.
Position Responsibilities: The M&P Standards Engineer - Mechanical Assembly and Fastening team supports programs by:
Review, revise, release engineering documents, drawings, to ensure proper selection and specification of standard parts for assembly.
Evaluate, Optimize, and implement new technologies for potential application to business needs. Implement cost saving initiatives for Production through standard part and processes improvements.
Apply knowledge of fastener, fittings, and bearings to develop designs and standard part processes that are repeatable, cost effective, environmentally friendly, and meet contractual and regulatory requirements.
Help resolve programmatic and technical problems that would affect cost, schedule and performance.
Support Integrated Product Teams and regularly communicate with customers (internal and external) and suppliers to coordinate and resolve production technical issues. Annual travel to customer and subcontractor facilities as well as industry committee meetings may be required.
The identification and/or generation of all documentation related to the integration of new products into the production environment
Supporting the manufacture of components both in-house and at suppliers.
Conducting failure analysis and RCCA (Root Cause and Corrective Action) as part of anomaly investigations.
Creating and revising specifications for components, and supporting subcontractor and suppliers to ensure components are qualified.
The roles and responsibilities described above spans the entire production lifecycle of the program.
This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience):
Current Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science. (Bachelor’s /Master’s degree (Level 1) or a Bachelor’s & 2+ years’ experience or a Master’s (Level 2))
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills & Experience):
2+ years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Bachelor’s degree or higher in aerospace, mechanical engineering, and/or material science
Experience with the development and maintenance of engineering standards or drawings
Experience with the design or development of fasteners and/or other standard parts
Experience with designated safety critical parts
Experience with Parts, Materials and Processes engineering in Aerospace industry

Summary Pay Range for (level 1): $64,600 - $87,400
Summary Pay Range for (level 2): $77,350 - $104,650
