Position Summary

The Engineering Manager is given the responsibility lead EMG Seals, Engineering department: to improve existing products and lead the new product development and sustainment portfolio; align priorities to divisional strategic positioning and the product technology roadmap. Partners with Commercial and Operations teams for opportunity vetting, and empowers Market Segment initiatives, and execute new opportunities based on available resources

Responsibilities

• Performs detailed design and supports new product development (Fluid Power Seals/O Rings, Customized shapes) by applying engineering principles and Parker standards
• Direct or delegate the direction for the preparation of complete design layouts, production drawings, model shop drawings, sketches and diagrams.
• Direct the activities of engineering change control on production drawings.
• Lead & Decide costing and budget estimates of new products as per spanet demand.
• Closely work with US Divisions, to liaison for drawings, products extension and establishing India manufactured products 
• The incumbent must take the lead in meeting new product development timelines, cost targets, production support requirements, field problems with products under his/her control, management and administration of the department. Work closely with Global team and support Operations, Sales and QC team to drive NPD.
• Specialized or complex products or system focus in design & development of rubber to metal bonded parts, customize shape gaskets PTFE lips seals & other complex design as per customer requirements.
• Adopts Lean product development and standard engineering developments and techniques 

Key Accountabilities

• Develops detailed designs, Tests & analyzes design factors, Interprets, validates test results.
• Well versed with Rubber Elastomers (HNBR, FKM, FFKM) and Plastic and PU, PTFE. 
• Injection/Rubber compression molding, manual/automated assembly processes. 
• NPD, feasibility study to support Sales & BD. New Product Requirement Gathering APQP, FMEA, PPAP 
• Product engineering and Design using various tools. Design Software Knowledge (Creo and Solid works) Product Validation/Prototype Testing 
• 8D Report, RCA, Deploy PFMEA, HFA, Conversant of Lean, Kaizen, QMS and Latest quality systems, (IATF16949)
• Products Costing and validation of parts, Industrial exposure Off Highways, Automotive, EV, General Industry
• Reviewing and approving the drawings, ECR for product design, tool design, mating components design.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Polymer/Chemical)
• 7-10 years engineering experience in product design and development (preferably)
• Experience in Seals and O ring design and development is preferred
• Conversant with rubber product manufacturing process and machineries
• Knowledge of functioning of laboratory equipment used in rubber industry like Rheometer, Mooney viscometer, UTM, etc.
• Develops manufacturing drawings in accordance with applicable standards
• Interfaces with outside vendors for component selection, manufacturing, and assembly
