NG Microelectronics Center is seeking Embedded Software Engineers to support architecture definition and product design. We are seeking engineers with the desire to learn new technologies to join our innovative organization to help develop, enhance and maintain complex designs on cutting edge products and systems.

As an Embedded Engineer at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of evolving how we deliver critical national defense products and capabilities for the warfighter. The selected individual will work on designs across the full product life cycle process. In this capacity, you will utilize your working knowledge of software development deployed on hardware systems.

This position can be filled at the Principal or Senior Principal level and requires work to be completed onsite at our Beavercreek, OH location.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, document, and test software targeting microcontrollers, embedded microprocessors, and general-purpose processors.
  • Collaborate with peers and other engineering disciplines in the planning, design, and integration of complex digital systems.
  • Work collaboratively in small groups composed of peers who are both local and remotely located.
  • Interface with vendors, contractors, and customers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related degree.
  • Experience with software programming languages including C, C++, and Python.
  • Experience with embedded systems debugging and system analysis tools (e.g. JTAG emulators, remote GDB servers, USB or benchtop logic analyzers).
  • Familiarity with common source control tools (git, Mercurial, etc.).
  • Candidates must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a US DoD TS/SCI clearance w/ CI Polygraph.

Qualifications for Principal Engineer level

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in software development (3 years with a MS degree, 0 years with PhD).

Qualifications for Senior Principal Engineer level:

  • A minimum of 9 years of experience in software development (7 years with a MS degree, 4 years with PhD).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret security clearance.
  • Advanced degree in computer science, computer engineering or related field.
  • Experience with embedded communications protocols such as SPI, I2C, and RS-232.
  • Experience with the agile software development lifecycle.
  • Experience with embedded systems development environments such as Xilinx Vitis and the GNU compiler collection (GCC) and related tools.
  • Experience with test automation and instrument control.
  • Experience with embedded real-time operating systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS, VxWorks, or Linux with PREEMPTRT
  • Experience with deriving software requirements.
  • Experience with creating design artifacts (e.g. UML) and design patterns.
  • Familiarity with Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket and Gitlab.
Salary Range: $121,000 - $181,400
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
