ABOUT THE ROLE

Honeywell Fire is a strategic business unit within Honeywell Building Automation (BA). Our global BA department integrates products in Fire, Security, Electrical and Building Management Systems. Its quality products, integrated system solutions, and services make life safer, more comfortable, more secure, and more productive in every corner of our world.

Our Regulatory Team has an immediate opportunity for a Certification Engineer II in St. Charles, IL.

The preferred candidate will be highly motivated with demonstrated initiative and have a fundamental understanding of product compliance methodologies within a regulated global environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as regulatory technical expert to support compliance of Fire projects.
  • Interpret regulatory standards and advise engineering teams so they meet product requirements.
  • Clarify necessary document changes and guide technical publication team to mitigate concerns.
  • Define product approval strategy in the areas of design functionality and documentation.
  • Prepare test plans, setup systems, coordinate testing and obtain approval results with agencies.
  • Perform/analyze software & hardware testing to identify performance gaps & improvement opportunities.
  • Analyze task risks, deadlines & priorities to help management derive realistic project schedules.
  • Resolve ongoing compliance concerns with engineering, marketing & technical publication teams.
  • Utilize quality control procedures and approval guides to perform responsible test executions.
  • Direct group of global team members on test methodologies to comply with local requirements.
  • Develop standard work, implement best practices, and train engineering team members.
  • Maintain product & equipment compliance to latest changes from UL/ULC, EN, ISO, FM and other global standards.
  • Resolve manufacturing audit concerns by providing accurate & complete information.
  • Utilize resources and optimize strategies for the fastest way to execute projects.
  • Identify test failure root causes and work with engineers on corrective action to resolve failures.
  • Be an excellent liaison between agencies and Honeywell engineering & quality teams.

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
  • At least 1 year of experience with new product development, agency approvals, or in an electrical/electronic testing laboratory

WE VALUE:

  • Knowledge of the New Product Development process of electrical, electronic, or electro-mechanical products.
  • UL or similar regulatory standards knowledge.
  • Fire / Security products testing or design & development experience.
  • Capability to analyze requirements & manage product compliance from application to approval.
  • Strong problem-solving skills: prioritize, identify root causes & take corrective actions.
  • Recognized proactive team fostering behavior & passion to get on time results.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with engineers and/or agency representatives.
  • Proven experience engaging multidisciplinary teams to resolve problems.
  • Established skills to organize logistical challenges, prioritize concerns & manage resolutions.
