The C-17 Development Hardware team is currently looking for an Experienced Project Engineer to join their team in Long Beach, CA. This organization supports Boeing’s C-17 Program, the worlds premier military airlift capability.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Expert and Consultant Level C-17 Avionics Project Engineer.
At BGS, we are looking for an experienced Project Engineer to be responsible for the technical, schedule and financial baselines of Development and Sustainment projects, mostly centered around C-17 Avionics. This position will include support for the entire product lifecycle, including business capture/award, baseline establishment, requirement development, supplier subcontracting, systems integration, flight test, field support and customer interactions. You will integrate and coordinate hardware and software development tasks for a project development lifecycle across internal groups and suppliers. This role is a focal for executing complex project management that drives schedules forward while minimizing the overall impact on other engineering efforts. You will be responsible for meeting technical performance, quality, cost and on-time delivery of product and services. You will be accountable for customer happiness and success throughout the project life cycle.
This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Long Beach, CA facility.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
7+ years of experience with Project Management of USG, Aerospace and/or DoD/DoW projects
History of managing projects through all phases of Hardware and Software development, test and qualification
Knowledgeable in subsystem design, requirement allocation and technical supplier management
Critical analysis and problem-solving skills across systems, hardware and software architecture
Practical experience with lab equipment for hardware development, troubleshooting and data capture
This position requires the ability to obtain an active U.S. Security Clearance. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
10+ years of experience with Project Management of USG, Aerospace and/or DoD/DoW projects
Military aircraft program experience
Experience working within a matrixed reporting organization
Familiar with PMBOK concepts and their practical applications
Knowledge of Agile development methodologies
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
