Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Engineer System Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Systems Engineering organization. This role is located in Melbourne, FL.
The candidate will be expected to apply their expertise in system architecture development, defining key capabilities and performance requirements. Responsibilities include establishing design and technology maturity constraints in accordance with customer specifications, developing thorough definitions of system external interfaces, and defining system implementation approaches and operational concepts. The candidate will ensure requirements are met and evaluate performance with the customer. The successful candidate will analyze architectures and develop various DODAF or SysML viewpoints in support of this effort.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define system architectures
- Develop architecture, CONOPS, and use cases using model-based systems engineering methodologies
- Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
- Execute trade studies to select from among multiple potential solutions
- Perform systems requirements analysis
- Manage requirements, including decomposition, allocation, verification, and validation

Basic Qualifications (Associate Engineer System Architect Level):
- Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline AND 0 years of related professional/military experience , OR a Master’s of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 0 years of related professional/military experience , OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 0 years of related professional/military experience.
- Must have an active Interim DoD Secret clearance or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Systems Engineering, with experience using Model Based Systems Engineering
- Applied knowledge of aircraft design
- Experience in the military aerospace development environment
- Experience with Cameo MagicDraw or another MBSE tool such as Rhapsody, Sparx EA, or Enterprise Architect
- Experience developing various DODAF view artifacts, especially operational and functional viewpoints, using MBSE tools like Cameo
Primary Level Salary Range: $63,900.00 - $95,900.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $77,200.00 - $115,800.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidates experience, education, skills and current spanet conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
