Job Summary:
A Packaging Engineer will provide unique designs for fabrication of shipping containers, parts presentation vehicles and material handling equipment. Products can range from a microchip, circuit cards, servers, motors, to radars and major end items that weigh up to 80,000 lbs. Engineers are also engaged in production floor support responding to issues to insure on time delivery to our customers. Packaging Engineers are also a resource for the shipment of Hazardous Materials and are familiar with the Federal regulations concerning the transport of these materials.
This role is onsite at our Andover, MA facility.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
- Support multiple major production programs, by creating and maintaining work instructions for the packaging and shipment of end items, design, and detailing of special material handling equipment and shipping containers
- Utilize CREO computer aided design technology to generate 3-dimensional models and technical drawing packages
- Determine adequate packaging for incoming hardware, supporting various product and upper-level assemblies.
- Interpret and read mechanical engineering drawings
- Identify opportunities for improvement within our factories.
- Adjust designs as necessary to meet stakeholder needs.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Must be at least a sophomore by the start of summer 2025 pursuing a degree in Packaging Science or Packaging Technology.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Value:
- 3.0 cumulative GPA desired
- Basic experience or education with CAD modeling
- Basic experience or education with drawing interpretation
- Strong knowledge of and experience in Microsoft Office tools
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills – comfortable working with quantitative and qualitative data
- Ability to learn new processes quickly and effectively multi-task

- Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
Clearance Information:
This position requires a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
