Production Planner

19.38 - 26.39 per hour

Morson are currently supporting the recruitment of a Production Planner role with one of our prestigious defence clients based in Cambridge. They are increasing their production capacity and are recruiting for multiple production planners to support their increased reliance on IFS to control their production. You would be responsible for managing the front-end activities on the ERP/MRP system including the initial loading of projects after design release, setting up the Master Part information, making amendments and supporting spares. You will need to release projects to planning, purchasing and the shop floor in a timely manner as well as roll-up all project costs at the end of the project, ensuring all parts are issued to the project.

The role is being offered on a 12-month contract basis, but there is a possibility for a permanent role at the end of the contract. So this role is a great opportunity to embed within a engineering specialist as they increase production capacity and increase technological adoption. You will be on site for 5 days a week, with a half day on Friday. We can offer a rate of 19.38 per hour PAYE or 26.39 per hour Umbrella, with a quick onboarding process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Production scheduler responsible for the capacity planning, ensuring utilisation of available plant hours is incorporated in planned maintenance cycles.
  • Responsible for material demand planning and stock control, loading projects and product support demand on the MRP system to customer requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring that capacity planning is fully integrated within the ERP/MRP systems.
  • Managing the control of Data within IFS, identifying trends, actioning MRP Messages to ensure the system is up to date and accurate and handling any stock related queries from all personnel.
  • Timely closure of projects, allowing rolled up costs to be visible to project managers and finance.
  • Master Part set up, transferring parts from the Design software (PLM Windchill) to IFS.
  • Ensure all amendments are processed through the MRP system in a timely manner ensuring parts are at latest issue and that parts are issued to the job

Essential Requirements:

  • Extensive experience within a production/factory/engineering planning role.
  • Very experienced in the use of ERP/MRP systems in a production environment.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office based applications.
  • Understand planning methods and skills.
  • Understanding of assembly systems.
  • Basic Understanding of Inventory management
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written to be able to present reports and presentations

Desirable Requirements:

  • Planning experience within a composites manufacturing or aerospace/defence environment.
  • IFS experience.
  • Degree level or professional Six Sigma, lean, data management or equivalent qualifications.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Problem solving skills, identifying errors and providing solutions to resolve.
  • Technical skills – Ability to navigate MRP software.

Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be BPSS cleared or eligible for this level of clearance before starting on site
