Mainframe Batch Operations Analyst

Job Description:

DPP is seeking a Mainframe Batch Operations Analyst for an opportunity in Columbia, SC.

Location: Partial Onsite - Onsite 3 days per week and as needed
Duration: 11 months; contract to hire opportunity
Term: W2 position
Work authorization: Candidates must be eligible to earn a low-level US security clearance (Public Trust).

Position summary:

The Mainframe Batch Operations Analyst focuses on monitoring and supporting batch job cycles in a preproduction mainframe environment.
This is a 100 mainframe role requiring handson experience with JCL, batch scheduling (Zeke), and TSO.
The position involves troubleshooting batch failures and performance issues, coordinating with Application Development and Technical Support on-call teams, and ensuring operational stability.
Ideal for candidates with batch operations or production support experience.
Shift work: the client is looking to fill either one of these shifts:

Monday–Friday, 4:00 PM–12:00 AM
OR, 6:00 AM–4:00 PM, 4 days on / 4 days off (includes weekends and holidays)

Batch mainframe knowledge

Zeke Scheduling
TSO
Strong communication skills for interaction with Application Development and Technical Support on-call resources
Teamwork skills to function effectively within an 8-person team

Minimum required work experience:

6 years of technical experience with systems analysis, design and/or programming
Other job-related IT experience

Responsibilities:

Monitor batch job cycles in a mainframe environment
Troubleshoot batch job failures and engage App Dev or Tech Support as needed
Monitor batch jobs for performance issues
Investigate and engage when jobs run long or are not receiving CPU resources
Use ServiceNow to submit and fulfill service requests (minimal server-based technology usage)

Required education/equivalencies:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or other job-related degree;
OR, Associates degree in CS, IT, or other job-related degree plus 2 years of work-related experience;
OR, 4 years job-related work experience (total 10 years without a degree)
