Job Summary: The FBO Manager is responsible for leading the FBO service team and structuring facilities as needed to provide the best service possible to our GA and Commercial customers.

Managerial Functions:

  • Coordinate with HR to recruit, interview, hire, and conduct reviews, compensation rate changes according to budget, and appropriate termination of subordinate FBO service team members. Must be able to be on call during normal business hours.
  • Provide initial and recurrent training of FBO team members as needed. Ensure that adequate cross-training has occurred. Self-assess and acquire needed training. Periodically audit team to assess training needs.
  • Review the FBO team's work schedule, including FBO team member’s time off, to adequately cover shifts as needed to comply with the objective stated above.
  • Operate as the direct point of contact with the Bemidji Regional Airport Authority for the FBO, attend the monthly Authority meetings deliver all monthly and yearly reports on the FBO activities, and take on FBO-related administrative work as directed/needed.
  • Plan/organize FBO events, look for opportunities to increase GA and Commercial traffic at KBJI airport, look for possible new services for the FBO, and look for ways to creatively advertise the KBJI FBO.
  • Maintain TSA compliance for FBO and Flight Training personnel, including CFI’s and students.

Essential Functions:

  • Accurately and succinctly gather, transfer, and/or disseminate information in a timely manner through proper channels including forwarding staff calls, radio communications, and message delivery.
  • Accurate and timely data entry for utilization by maintenance, operations, and pilots including daily entry of Hobbs times and locations of Bemidji Aviation single-engine aircraft in MS access database and Excel spreadsheets.
  • Accurate and timely data entry of information relating to fuel sales, plane rentals, and flight instruction.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support to FBO customers through coordination with line staff to ensure these needs are met in a timely manner. Customer requests may include fuel orders, use of a courtesy car, assistance with overnight accommodations in the Bemidji area, etc.
  • Answer phones and transfer calls appropriately.
  • Utilize MS Access, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint software, and internet searches.
  • Process transactions over the point-of-sale system for the purchase of pilot supplies, Bemidji Aviation apparel, flight instruction, plane rentals, and aviation fuel.
  • Communicate information to pilots landing at Bemidji Regional Airport over Unicom and Company frequency.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, welcoming environment (take out trash, clean/refill coffee pots, fill vending machines, water plants, etc.)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

This job operates approximately 95% of the time inside a climate-controlled building and approximately 5% of the time outside in all types of weather. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers, facsimile machines, and filing cabinets.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit; stand; walk; climb up and down stairs; bend/stoop; occasionally push/pull and lift weight up to 45 lbs.; use hands to grasp, finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. On rare occasions may be required to crawl, use fine manipulations, kneeling, and repetitive motion.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position with an expectation of occasional evening and weekend hours as job duties demand.

Travel:

Minimal travel will be expected with this position, usually for training.

Required Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required. Valid driver’s license. Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office programs. 1-3 years of supervisory or equivalent experience.
