We’re hiring a Customs Compliance Coordinator to help drive our continued success!
Purpose of the role
MHIRJ’s network of service centers, support offices and parts depots are positioned in important aviation hubs in the U.S. The Customs Compliance Coordinator will support MHIRJ’s operational compliance activities within the MHIRJ spare parts business actively contributing to the achievement of corporate objectives and ensuring regulatory compliance. The Customs Compliance Coordinator prepares customs documentation and ensures that shipments meet all applicable laws to facilitate the import and export of goods.
Here are the daily responsibilities of a Customs Compliance Coordinator:
- Support Sr. Customs Advisor with compliance activities and audits
- Support MHIRJs customs broker and MHIRJ distribution provider with daily operational requests related to import clearance, export shipments and transportation
- Assign accurate classification to MHIRJ spare parts prior to and at time of shipment, including Harmonized Tariff Schedule "HTS" and Export Control Classification Number "ECCN"
- Maintain the HTS and ECCN Databases up to date through the ERP system as well as with the customs broker.
- Support Dangerous Goods teams with all operational compliance matters specific to Dangerous Goods
- Maintain dangerous goods Material Safety Data Sheet ("MSDS") repository and ensure data accuracy in the product master
- Licensed Parts: proactively manage any parts that may be subject to licensing from segregation/movement of the goods to any necessary legal reviews
- Recordkeeping: review the physical and digital import and export documentation for completeness and accuracy, store both physical and digital copies in their respective locations
- Recover and audit Automated Export System ("AES") filings and documentation on routed exports from the respective freight forwarder
- Support third-party logistics provider with operational export and transportation matters
- All other duties as assigned.
Here is what is required to succeed:
- High School diploma or GED
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain or other relevant degree (Preferred)
- 3-5 years’ experience in US foreign trade, import/export compliance and/or customs brokerage setting
- HTS classification experience
- Ability to work independently and with limited supervision
- Intermediate working knowledge MS Office Suite in particular Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to proficiently navigate web-based applications
- NCBFAA Educational Institutes Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) Certification (import) and/or CES Certified (Customs Export Specialist certification) (Preferred)
- Aircraft parts classification experience preferred
- Experience in a distribution warehouse and aftermarket aerospace industry (Preferred)
- General experience using SAP (Preferred)
- Certified in Hazmat/DG certified within 6 months of hire. (Preferred)
- Training/class will be provided
